🛶 Our first ever regatta is done, and what an experience it was.
•
For one day, we swapped the trails for the ocean. We came in as first-timers, part-time paddlers, and full-time hikers, not quite knowing what to expect. But we showed up, gave it everything, and proved that Vaea Footprints can compete anywhere

In the first heat, Team 1 put in a brilliant effort to finish second, while Team 2 crossed the line in fifth. In the second race, Team 1 finished third, and Team 2 continued to battle hard right to the end. Although Team 1 was later disqualified, the effort and determination shown out on the water can never be taken away

With two divisions on the day, the Cup Division for the top teams and the Rep Charge Division for the rest, we were proud of how we performed against some of the best paddlers on the island. A few of our boys were also part of the Laumei Masters crew that went on to win the 1,000 metre championship race. That was something special to witness

⭐️ A huge thank you to Laumei Outrigger Canoe for giving us the opportunity to compete at such a high level. Opportunities like this do not come around often, and we made sure to make the most of it
