With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, we share the news of the passing of our beloved former Chaplain of the Mission to Seafarers in Vanuatu and Provincial Chaplain of the Mission to Seafarers in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
We give thanks to God for his faithful service, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the ministry among seafarers. His life was a true reflection of Christ’s love—reaching out to those far from home, offering comfort, guidance, and hope in times of need.
His legacy will remain in the lives he touched, the prayers he offered, and the compassion he showed to all. Though we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived in the service of God and humanity.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, loved ones, and all who were blessed by his ministry. May the Lord grant you peace and strength during this time of grief.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord… they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.” (Revelation 14:13)
Rest in peace, faithful servant of God.

Congratulations Rev. Canon Andrew Wright

We are delighted that our former Secretary General, The Revd Canon Andrew Wright, was recently awarded the Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) in the King's Birthday Honours, for his services to The Mission to Seafarers (MtS). The CVO is awarded by the Sovereign for service to the Sovereign and the Royal Family.

In February 2013, Andrew took up the role of Secretary General of MtS, where he led the global charity through a period of extensive change and development. Until late 2022, alongside his responsibilities at MtS, he also served as Chairman of the International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA), the umbrella body that brings together most of the organisations engaged in frontline maritime welfare.

In 2022, Andrew was named in Lloyd's List top 100 most influential people in the shipping industry at number 82, and again in 2023 at number 78. It was wonderful for him to be deservedly recognised in that way, and a testament to how highly regarded he was and still is by the industry.

Andrew retired from MtS at the end of September 2024, handing over the reins to the current Secretary General, The Ven Dr Peter Rouch.

A huge congratulations to Andrew from all of us at MtS on this extraordinary honour.
