The Vanuatu National Museum holds a remarkable collection of pottery dating from approximately 1,000 to 500 years after the Lapita period.

The pieces featured on this poster include a Lapita pot from Toman Island, Malekula, and a Mangasi pot from Mele Village, Efate. Mangasi-style pottery designs have also been found throughout the Shepherd Islands.

Excited to share a major milestone! 🚀

We are thrilled to have taken part in an intensive Xero Training session hosted at the conference room of the National Archives and Library of Vanuatu.

Continuous professional development is key to modern efficiency, and We are genuinely very happy with this skills upgrade. Mastering cloud-based accounting tools like Xero opens up fantastic new pathways for financial management, accuracy, and operational productivity. It was a fantastic collaborative session; our participants included the Finance Officer of the National Archives and Library, along with two Finance officers from the Vanuatu Cultural Centre.

A massive thank you to NovaEdge Consulting for delivering such an exceptional and insightful training service. Your expertise and guidance made the learning experience seamless and practical!

📚 National Archives of Vanuatu: Preserving Our Past, Inspiring Our Future

The National Archives of Vanuatu plays a vital role in safeguarding the documentary heritage and collective memory of our nation. As the official custodian of government records, historical documents, maps, photographs, and other valuable archives, it ensures that the history of Vanuatu is preserved, protected, and accessible for future generations.

The National Archives serves as a bridge between the past, present, and future. Through the preservation of historical records, it supports research, education, governance, land administration, cultural identity, and the protection of citizens' rights.

Did you know that the National Archives of Vanuatu holds one of the largest archival collections in the South Pacific? Its collections include records from the New Hebrides period, government ministries, churches, land and customary maps, and many other unique documents that tell the story of our people and our nation.

Today, the Archives is embracing modern technologies through digitization initiatives to ensure that these invaluable records remain safe from natural disasters, climate challenges, and physical deterioration.

As we continue this important work, we are reminded of a simple but powerful truth:

"You have to stand on your past to talk about your future."

By preserving our past, we strengthen our identity, learn from our history, and build a better future for generations to come.

📢 Storian Workshop on Trust and Healthcare Engagement in the Pacific

Today, a Storian Workshop was conducted by John Taylor at the Vanuatu Cultural Centre Conference Room with staff members of the Vanuatu Kaljoral Senta (VKS) as part of an Australian Research Council-funded research project exploring trust and mistrust in healthcare across the Pacific.

This important research focuses on Vanuatu, Fiji, and Samoa and seeks to better understand how trust influences healthcare engagement and health outcomes within communities. The findings will help inform healthcare policies and practices at local, national, and regional levels.

🔍 Research activities include:
✅ Talanoa/Storian workshops with key stakeholders
✅ Engagement with traditional and complementary/faith healers
✅ Focused interviews and participant observation
✅ A multi-country community survey
✅ Production of a documentary film highlighting key challenges and opportunities

By learning from the experiences of communities, healthcare workers, and traditional practitioners, this research aims to strengthen trust in healthcare systems and contribute to improved health outcomes across the Pacific.
