Saigon is rich with hidden gems, layered history, and fascinating stories. Discover some of these, from Art Deco to Modernism, in the Architecture Walk on Saturday August 15.

Tom Bosschaert, Founder at ViCo and registered architect, brings us around Saigon to look at some gems of architecture and landscape design, including Vietnamese Modernism, a homegrown architectural movement from 1940 to 1975 where local architects adapted global modernism to the tropics decades before sustainable design had a name.

Meet our two speakers at ViCo Circle: Build a Brand Worth Knowing

How do you build a brand without flattening it into a slogan? This August we're joined by two people who have spent years doing that, together.

Châu Nguyễn, Co-founder of Urbanist Travel and Managing Director of Saigoneer, has spent 12 years building travel and media brands that put communities first, designing experiences for the mid-to-luxury market across Asia that go beyond the itinerary.

Brian Letwin, Co-founder and CEO of Saigoneer and Urbanist Travel, built Vietnam's only premium multilingual storytelling platform and now helps the country's top hotels bring their brand stories to life through editorial, video, and creative production.

As Heleen puts it: "Culture is how we work, not how we feel about work."

That was the thread running through ViCo Circle: Culture Design, where Joe Black and Heleen Hoosemans walked us through a hard truth: culture forms whether you design it or not. At 15 people, the founders are the culture, in every conversation and every decision. By 50, the personal touch starts slipping through the cracks. By 150, it splits into tribes, without anyone deciding it should. As Joe said: “A great Friday doesn't change Tuesday”, because one good party won't shift how a team actually works.

We closed the day with ViCo PizzaMovie and Princess Mononoke, a film about people and the world they build on top of. A fitting way to end, after an afternoon spent talking about how the things we build end up shaping us right back.

ViCo SmartTours: Pizza 4P's - Farm to Table Kitchen & Dinner

On 14 August, ViCo is spending an evening at Pizza 4P's Trần Ngọc Diện, and we'd like you to come along. It's a chance to meet the people who run the place, and to hear how the everyday decisions behind a restaurant end up shaping how people eat, gather, and connect.

The building has a story of its own. It was designed around 10 interconnected regenerative principles, an attempt to let architecture work with nature. You can see it in the garden, where 30 plant species have, within a month, drawn in 15 more species of insects and amphibians.

We'll close the evening with dinner together. Pull up a chair!

One of the hardest parts of a leader's job: letting go of the right things, to the right people, in the right way.

At ViCo last Saturday, van Loon guided participants through “Leading Through Others” delegation skills. By the end of the session, participants got with practical clarity on:
- Getting things done through other people, and creating the psychological safety that makes it possible
- Deciding what only you should own, and delegating the rest
- Picking the right person by expertise, passion, follow-through, and thinking style
- Delegating a task clearly through its purpose, action, and timeline
- Creating empowerment by building trust, learning from mistakes, and communicating regularly

Great leadership is about investing the time to build a team of capable people who can step in and handle things when you're not around.
