A Young Woman's 17-Year Journey with the Christina Noble Children's Foundation
๐ We are proud to share these heartwarming words of Oyun*, who joined the Christina Noble Children's Foundation (CNCF) Child Sponsorship Programme in 2009. After 17 years of support, encouragement and determination, she has graduated as a medical doctor and was recognised as one of her university's Outstanding Graduates. We are so proud of you Oyun*, and your wonderful sponsor for supporting you alongside our team in Mongolia.
Her words are translated from Mongolian.
"Good day everyone. Today, I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude.
I joined Christina Noble Children's Foundation's Child Sponsorship Programme when I was eight years old. After losing both of my parents at a young age, I was raised by my grandmother. We had nothing. Thanks to the support of my sponsor and CNCF, I was able to stay in school and continue believing that my future could be different.
Looking back, CNCF gave me so much more than financial support. It gave me stability during difficult times, encouragement when I doubted myself, and opportunities that helped me discover who I could become. Through educational activities, leadership programmes, volunteer activities, mentorship and community events, I gained confidence, built lifelong friendships, developed valuable life skills, and discovered the importance of giving back to others. These experiences helped me realise that my circumstances did not have to define my future and made me who I am today.
Knowing that someone believed in me changed the way I saw myself. Every letter, every conversation, every activity and every word of encouragement (from CNCF and my sponsor) reminded me that I mattered. That gave me the strength to keep studying, even when life felt difficult.
Throughout my academic journey, I worked hard to make the most of every opportunity. One of my proudest achievements was winning first place at my university's scientific research conference and graduating as one of the Outstanding Graduates of my medical school.
Today, I have fulfilled my dream of becoming a medical doctor. This achievement is not mine alone. It belongs to my grandmother, whose love carried me through every challenge, to my sponsor, whose generosity opened doors I could never have opened on my own, and to every member of the CNCF team, who stood beside me throughout my childhood and believed in my potential.
CNCF gave me hope, confidence and the chance to build a future I once thought was impossible and changed the course of my life.
As I begin my career as a doctor, I hope to pass that kindness forward by caring for people facing illness and hardship. Just as others invested in my future, I hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
To my sponsor, my grandmother and everyone at Christina Noble Children's Foundation, thank you for believing in me long before I believed in myself. Your support has shaped the person I am today, and I will carry your kindness with me for the rest of my life.
