— a group of founding members who came together with a shared vision: to create a trusted space where leaders and next-generation members of family businesses can connect, exchange perspectives, and support one another in navigating the journey of legacy leadership.

Our 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 reflects the diversity and strength of the family business ecosystem. Coming from industries such as manufacturing, HR, Healthcare, finance, communications, and more, each member contributes unique insights on governance, growth, and generational transition. On April 14th, the RMIT Vietnam Alumni - Family Business Club Executive Committee had the pleasure of attending the Exclusive Reception celebrating 25 years of impact of RMIT and the end-of-term farewell for Consul General Sarah Hooper, hosted by RMIT Vietnam and the Australian Government.

The event was also attended by Professor Alec Cameron, RMIT Vice-Chancellor and President, members of the RMIT Advisory Board, senior leaders from RMIT Australia and Vietnam, as well as alumni who have made significant contributions to the RMIT Vietnam alumni community.

At this exclusive event, our President, Hieu Doan, had the opportunity to engage with valued guests and introduce our exciting initiative, the Family Business Club. The introduction to RMIT Australia’s leadership further reinforced that this initiative is not only expanding across provinces in Vietnam, but also has the potential to grow internationally, including in Australia and beyond—where family businesses continue to be a main driver of economic growth.

11/4/2026 marked a significant milestone as the RMIT Family Business Club (FBC) officially launched our Hanoi Chapter. More than just an opening ceremony, it was a bold statement regarding the presence of a community dedicated to the next generation of RMIT leaders in the capital.

The highlight of our launch was the workshop “Brand Management & Refreshing Family Legacy” featuring guest speaker Phan Le Khoi, CMO of Bitexco Group. The speaker shared the invaluable 70/30 Rule: preserving 70% of the core values from the founding generation while courageously injecting 30% innovation to ensure the family brand remains vibrant in the modern market. His insights on building personal credibility through competence and character deeply resonated with every successor in the room.

The journey of FBC Hanoi has now officially begun. We are not just building a networking group; we are committing to an ecosystem of genuine knowledge and experience.

Thank you to all our alumni for being part of this inspiring beginning.

📅 11.04 | 2:00 – 5:00 PM
📍 RMIT Hanoi Campus, Phòng 3A Tháp A

DAY 4 RECAP — JAPAN LEGACY BUSINESS STUDY

The final day in Japan brought the journey back to a simple question:
What does it really take to sustain a business over generations?

In Kobe, the group experienced Kobe beef at Mouriya, a restaurant established in 1885. Beyond the quality of the product, it reflected something deeper — consistency in standards, maintained over more than a century.

We also explored local specialties in Akashi, including the region’s signature grilled squid delicacy, where craftsmanship and locality remain central to the experience.

A visit to a pharmacy with over 100 years of history offered a contrasting perspective on growth. Instead of aggressive expansion, the business has remained intentionally small, operating only a few locations within the region. A clear reflection of a Japanese approach — prioritizing control, quality, and long-term stability over scale.

The journey concluded with a business networking dinner at a 400-year-old sake brewery. From original sake to brown rice sake and even sake-based hotpot, tradition was not preserved as it was — but continuously reinterpreted into new forms.

Day 4 leaves us with a grounded conclusion:
Longevity is not driven by growth alone. It is built on discipline in quality, clarity in positioning, and the patience to expand only when ready.

Four days, multiple perspectives — from systems and institutions to culture, craft, and philosophy.

The study ends here, but the thinking continues.
