🤖 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗺: 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀 ($𝟱𝟬𝟬𝗞 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱)

We're happy to announce that one of our alumni, 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗺, has secured $𝟱𝟬𝟬𝗞 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 from 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝗙𝗥𝟴 for his startup, 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗯—a bold vision of building expressive robots to be the first ones in people’s homes.

Binh’s journey started just like many of us. Growing up in a medium-income family in Vietnam, he taught himself to code in 6th grade. By 18, he was setting up 5G networks. By 20, he was running a hardware YouTube channel that got featured on 𝘏𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘏𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳, and more. At the same time, Binh was helping UpYouth scout and nurture potential founders for 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳.

Now at 21, just a year later, Binh has become the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀—a home for the most talented technologists and founders. As he says:

Một trong những cựu thành viên của UpYouth, 𝗕𝗶̀𝗻𝗵 𝗣𝗵𝗮̣𝗺, đã gọi vốn thành công $𝟱𝟬𝟬𝗞 (𝗸𝗵𝗼𝗮̉𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟯.𝟮 𝘁𝘆̉ 𝗩𝗡𝗗) vòng Pre-Seed từ quỹ đầu tư mạo hiểm 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀 và 𝗙𝗥𝟴 cho 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗟𝗮𝗯—một startup với tầm nhìn chế tạo những robot biểu cảm đầu tiên để đưa chúng vào đời sống hàng ngày.

Để đạt được cột mốc này, hành trình của Bình cũng bắt đầu như bất kỳ ai. Lớn lên trong một gia đình trung lưu, Bình đã tự học lập trình từ lớp 6. Năm 18 tuổi, anh dựng mạng 5G cho hàng ngàn thiết bị di động. Năm 20 tuổi, anh duy trì kênh YouTube chia sẻ về những dự án công nghệ tự thực hiện, được xuất hiện trên 𝘏𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘏𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 và nhiều nền tảng tech lớn khác. Cùng thời điểm đó, Bình còn hỗ trợ UpYouth tìm kiếm và ươm mầm những founder tiềm năng cho 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘐𝘯𝘤𝘶𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳.

Chỉ một năm sau, Bình đã trở thành 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗴𝘂̛𝗼̛̀𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝗲̣̂𝘁 đ𝗮̂̀𝘂 𝘁𝗶𝗲̂𝗻 𝗻𝗵𝗮̣̂𝗻 đ𝘂̛𝗼̛̣𝗰 đ𝗮̂̀𝘂 𝘁𝘂̛ 𝘁𝘂̛̀ 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘀—nơi khởi đầu của nhiều startups nổi tiếng: Airtable, Replit, Cognition AI, v.v. Anh chia sẻ:

“Chỉ vài tháng trước để đạt được cột mốc này ở tuổi 21 là điều mình cho là bất khả thi. Mình không có những đặc quyền như nhiều founder khác. Mình chỉ cúi đầu xuống và tập trung vào những gì mình đam mê. Thật mừng là cuối cùng thành quả cũng đến với mình.”

Back in 2020, our founders asked a simple but fundamental question:

Too often, young people are told to dream, pitch, or prepare for "real life", but not to actually 𝙗𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙. That’s why UpYouth exists: to create real young Vietnamese founders. Not just ideas or school projects. 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨.

Along the way, we learned a hard truth. In the early days, we followed the playbook: bringing in top mentors, running polished events and workshops, even borrowing models from global incubators. On paper, it looked impressive. Participants left inspired, but once the programs ended, many slipped back into safer routes. We weren’t solving the root problem—we were only treating symptoms.

The biggest barrier isn’t knowledge or even money. It’s inertia—the fear of starting. Without momentum, even the brightest builders fall back into safer paths.

Most early-stage founders think customers reject them because of cost, speed, or “not ready for tech.” But when our Venture Studio startup 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻 went door-to-door with mom-and-pop shops in Bình Dương’s suburban markets, we uncovered a bigger truth.

It wasn’t about discounts.
It wasn’t about delivery.
It wasn’t even about digital literacy.

Shop owners feared being scammed. They feared losing face with neighbors who call them “cô” or “dì.” They feared selling counterfeit goods and damaging the trust built over decades.

Shop owners weren’t asking about prices first. They asked:
