Excited to see this collaboration announced through the Uptake Center for Knowledge Transfer & Innovation.

Too often, evidence exists but does not fully translate into policy and practice. Bridging that gap requires more than research. It requires communication that connects with people, understanding of context and culture, and facilitation that helps move dialogue into action.

As I shared in the announcement:"I first experienced Jane Badham's facilitation during a business network consultation in Nairobi more than a decade ago. Since then, I have followed the work of JB Consultancy, which continues to set a high bar for strategic communication and facilitation that enables policy dialogue and meaningful social impact."

Putting People at the Centre of Digital Transformation — Beyond Connectivity

Access to the internet is often treated as the starting point for digital transformation. But access alone is not enough.

What stands out in DigComp 3.0, the European Commission’s Digital Competence Framework, is its clear shift toward a people-centred approach, grounding digital transformation in a shared set of values and principles. The framework recognises that meaningful participation in the digital and AI-enabled world depends on more than infrastructure. It depends on digital literacy, critical thinking, and responsible use.

DigComp 3.0 frames digital competence as an integrated combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes, enabling people to engage with digital technologies confidently, responsibly, and ethically across learning, work, and civic life. This perspective is particularly important as AI becomes embedded in everyday systems and public services.

This focus strongly resonates with the work of NormativeAI, an initiative managed by Mantis Mentor, which looks beyond digital solutions and AI integration to the capabilities and conditions required for technology to support public policy and practice. Digital literacy and digital wellbeing are not add-ons. They are foundational.

Each brings rich experience and unique perspectives from different parts of the world:

🇻🇳 Based in Vietnam, our collaborator has deep expertise in public health, policy advocacy, project management, and behavior change communication. Fluent in Vietnamese and English, they’ve supported diverse multi-stakeholder initiatives across Asia, with a focus on maternal and child nutrition.

🇲🇾 Based in Malaysia, this collaborator has two decades of experience providing technical advisory services in public policy and digital innovations, including AI-powered monitoring platforms. Fluent in English and Chinese, they’ve worked extensively on policy implementation, monitoring, and training in multiple regions.

🇦🇺 Joining us from Australia, our collaborator is an Honorary Associate Professor and global health expert covering maternal, child, and adolescent health, evidence-based policy, and research translation. With English proficiency, they bring academic rigor and policy engagement to diverse sectors.
