Twelve years later and the Prom Initiative continues to remind me what can happen when a village truly comes together 💕
Now that prom season is officially over and I can finally breathe a little… I just want to say a genuine THANK YOU to every single person who played a part in making this year possible. Every sponsor, volunteer, stylist, makeup artist, seamstress, donor, school administrator, counselor, business owner, friend, and community member who showed up in some way… thank you.
Every year this initiative grows, not just in numbers, but in impact and experience. This year we were able to sponsor 27 graduating seniors across the high schools and 19 eighth graders for their spring ball. In total, we distributed 86 dresses and 14 suits for year-end activities. These activities included class night, prom, spring ball, military ball, banquets, promotional and award ceremonies, graduation and more. 💫
Two years ago, we quietly started helping parents on a need basis so they could attend graduation feeling confident and comfortable beside their children. This year, 4 mothers found the perfect outfit. Moments like that matter more than people realize. Thank you to the sponsors who made those experiences possible.
The Prom Initiative has never just been about dresses and suits. It has always been about creating an experience where students feel valued. Many of the students spent the entire day with us. We provided toiletries so they could shower and get ready comfortably, food and drinks throughout the day, and an environment filled with love, LAUGHTER, encouragement, and volunteers who made sure every student felt seen.
When a village comes together, the impact is immeasurable. What this community continues to do year after year is something special. Thank you for trusting me with this initiative and for continuing to stand beside me in it.
One last little surprise 💗 Two students graduating tomorrow will also receive gift certificates for mani and pedis gifted by Dona.
I’ll say this again, PROUDLY, twelve years later… and this community still shows me that love in action is one of the most powerful things in the world. 🫶🏼
