My Brother's Workshop STX

My Brother's Workshop STX Non-Profit supporting At-Risk Youths in the V.I. My Brother’s Workshop provides paid training and mentoring to “high-risk and at-risk” youth, ages 16-24.
(1)

The program targets youth who have dropped out of school, are marginally literate and live in poverty. Most of the youth trained have been in a gang or have a juvenile criminal record. MBW trains these youth in basic building skills like carpentry, plumbing and masonry. This paid training provides a positive alternative to the vicious cycle of gangs, crimes, drugs and violence.

MBW Employee Spotlight

Meet Eddie Martinez, one of the incredible Trainers at My Brother’s Workshop's campus on St. Croix. After retiring, Eddie dedicated his time to serving others, volunteering at the Lighthouse in Christiansted by serving meals to the homeless and helping maintain the facility. In 2015, he joined Judge Douglas Brady’s weekly ministry at the Youth Rehabilitation Center in St. Croix, supporting juveniles and making a difference in their lives.

Eddie’s passion for mentorship and community service led him to My Brother’s Workshop in 2017, when he joined a committee helping to launch our program on St. Croix. By May 2019, Eddie officially became a Workshop Trainer, bringing his experience, compassion, and dedication to our trainees every day.

MBW Employee Spotlight 💫

Meet Grace Reid — MBW’s social worker, case manager, counselor, office administrator, mentor, and all-around powerhouse who steps in wherever she’s needed. 💪💛

Ms. Reid, the eldest of seven children, has always been a natural caretaker. A proud graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School in St. Thomas, she went on to earn her degree in Criminal Justice from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. Though she once considered becoming an attorney, her path changed after working at a summer camp in the 1980s — an experience that ignited her lifelong passion for helping young people.

Since then, Ms. Reid has dedicated her life to guiding, supporting, and mentoring youth as a social worker, case manager, counselor, and mentor. As a mother of four daughters, she finds no greater joy than helping shape individuals into the best versions of themselves.

Ms. Reid says she’s been blessed to work alongside others at MBW who share her passion for helping youth find hope, healing, and purpose. 🌿
