At StRIVE, UCSD student coaches work with peers ages 18-22 with disabilities, serving as teachers, mentors, and simply friends.

Where UCSD student volunteers spend time with peers ages 18-22 with mental and physical disabilities, serving as teachers, mentors, and simply friends. Each member is a "coach," and our coaches work with transitional community education programs. We visit five of the programs' classes, aiming to target three critical areas imperati

ve to independent living: communication, health awareness, and vocational skills. We have received recognition for our work from the students we work with, their parents, their teachers, and from the Strauss Foundation which has generously donated a grant to our program.
