BESIG is IATEFL’s Business English Special Interest Group: a community for educators who teach English for business and professional communication.

Some conferences bring people together for a day. Others are built through years of dedication. 🌍

Today, the 7th International Conference on Interpreting and Translation Studies (ICTS 2026) is bringing 150 delegates from 16 countries to Tashkent, both in person and online.

A warm congratulations to Dr. Azamat Akbarov, who has led the ICTS conference series since 2015, and to the teams at the University of Exact and Social Sciences and personally, the rector Dr.G'olibjon Botirov and Silk Road Global Institute. Gathering this many voices from across the world takes care, persistence, and a great deal of work behind the scenes. We’re glad to see that work come to life today.

This year’s theme, “Interpreting Change: Language, Technology, and Human Connection,” feels especially timely. UNESCO estimates that 40% of people worldwide lack access to education in a language they speak and understand fluently a reminder of how much language access matters.

From all of us at UzTEA, we wish the speakers, organisers, and participants a wonderful day of learning and conversation.
