Kappa Leaguers Acquiring Skills in Saving, Investing & Credit

Last fall, Kappa League launched KLASSIC, our new financial literacy framework built around real-world decision-making, accountability, and preparation for adulthood; not lectures, but lived experience.

As part of the launch, Leaguers completed a 24-month personal finance simulation, managing rent, credit, savings, transportation, and unexpected expenses across two life stages: student ➡️ working adult.

🚀 STEM Applied Learning Weekend 🌍🔬

From lift-off to life on Mars—this weekend was all about learning by doing.

Day 1: Leaguers took flight at the iFLY STEM Experience ✈️—completing their flights (including the high flight) and diving into a hands-on STEM lab.

Day 2: Exploration mode activated at Kennedy Space Center 🛰️—from Apollo history to deep space innovation and the legendary Space Shuttle Atlantis.

Day 3: Mission: Mars 🌱🤖 Leaguers worked as a team to run a Mars Base Operations Center—harvesting crops, programming robots, optimizing solar energy, and solving real challenges of life beyond Earth.

STEM isn’t just studied—it’s experienced.

✈️ Applied Aviation & Flight Day 🛫

Leaguers took STEM to the runway at Pompano Beach Airpark, hosted by Florida Aviation Academy and Sheltair.

Scholars were introduced to the full aviation ecosystem; exploring careers far beyond the pilot’s seat, including flight operations, aircraft maintenance, aviation management, and logistics. With exclusive access to the tarmac, Leaguers got up close with training Cessna aircraft, seeing firsthand how flight academies operate behind the scenes.

The experience continued in high-tech simulation labs, where Leaguers tested their skills on over $300,000 in flight simulators; flying a Cessna 172, an F-16 fighter jet, and a helicopter, practicing takeoffs, landings, and even aircraft carrier approaches.

This wasn’t a tour, it was applied learning at altitude.

Kappa Kamp 2025: Disconnecting From the World, Connecting With Each Other

Over 30 Kappa Leaguers from Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, and West Palm Beach spent three days at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, stepping away from screens, routines, and daily noise and stepping into nature, brotherhood, and real connection.

Throughout the weekend, Leaguers participated in workshops on Attitude, How to Tie a Tie, Professional Dressing, and the importance of leading through performance.

A core part of the experience was responsibility:
A dedicated student cooking detail prepared every meal for the entire group, and cleaning duties to keep the site running smoothly. Working together built pride, teamwork, and a sense of ownership over the camp.

And when the work was done, the fun came easy:

🎯 Laser tag, water gun battles, football & kickball
🌅 Morning workouts

Away from the world, Kappa Kamp wasn’t about being busy, it was about being present, learning from each other, enjoying nature, and strengthening the brotherhood that makes Kappa League special.

📚 Phase III: Knowledge + Competition + Leadership
This month, our Leaguers leveled up with a jam-packed session on careers, government, and the realities of sports — and brought the 🔥 to Phase III: Competition.
✅ iGrad Power-Up – Leaguers knocked out new financial literacy certificates:
• Middle Schoolers → spotting scams + banking basics
• Sophomores → dream careers + credit scores
• Juniors & Seniors → picking colleges + understanding costs + securing scholarships
🎯 Kahoot Showdown – The room was electric as Leaguers battled for cash prizes in government, sports, and career trivia — plus bonus ACT/SAT/ASVAB prep rounds. 🏆
🏛 Government & Leadership –
2nd Pres. Davidson broke down how each level of government impacts daily life.
🏈 Sports Reality Check –
A. Harvard + A. Jerome-Pierre exposed the odds of making it pro, the injury risks, and what happens financially after retirement.
📈 Career Game Plan –
1st VP Lara + J. Charles-Pierre taught about trades, careers, and performance reviews — setting the bar high for future success.
🏕 Retreat Preview –
K. Hagan hyped up the November Camping Retreat with proposed activities and goals.
🗳 Business Matters –
The session ended with motions, financial reports, and event planning — putting Robert’s Rules into action.

Kappa League Day of Action: Awareness in Action. 🤝📚
Kappa Leaguers kicked off the school year in service to the community. At the Broward Community & Family Health Center in Lauderhill, Leaguers helped power the Back-to-School Health Fair; setting up, distributing bookbags and meals, passing out flyers, and making sure families were fully prepped with supplies and health assessments for the 2025–2026 school year.

At the same time, our Presidential Team stepped into another vital role by serving lunch at the Broward Partnership to families and individuals facing homelessness. It wasn’t just about giving, it was about listening, learning, and understanding the challenges right here in our own neighborhoods.

This is what we mean by “Awareness in Action”. It’s not just talking about issues, but being part of the solution. 💪🏾

Kappa League is back in session! 🔥

We kicked off the new school year by handling official business, welcoming our newest Leaguers, and reconnecting as a brotherhood.

The day started with icebreakers that helped us dive deeper; sharing interests, goals, and personal stories. Then, things got competitive with trivia rounds that brought energy and fun into the room

Vice Presidents Lara and Davidson led powerful discussions about salary expectations vs. career realities. Using the MyNextMove website, Leaguers compared their dream jobs with real-world income data, education requirements, and personality matches. Some left inspired while others realized it’s time to rethink the plan and level up their strategy.

Next, we got down to business. Leaguers made and adopted motions on this year’s calendar, staffing appointments, and budget items; all guided by Robert’s Rules of Order, preparing for future leadership roles in the real world.

We closed out the day with lunch, laughter, and some video games. It’s a perfect reminder that this is more than a program. It’s a brotherhood built on growth, excellence, and purpose.

Kappa Leaguers recently had a powerful, eye-opening experience during their visit to the Broward County Judicial Complex, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at how justice is carried out in the 17th Judicial Circuit.

The day began in the courtroom of Judge Elijah Williams, Chairperson of the Delinquency Division. There, Leaguers witnessed live juvenile proceedings of cases involving young people their own age facing serious charges, immigration-related consequences, and the need for court interpreters. After the hearings, Judge Williams took time to speak with the Kappa Leaguers, offering insight into rising trends among youth, reflections on his own journey to the bench, and advice about personal responsibility, accountability, and the value of education.

Next, the Leaguers sat in the courtroom of Judge Stepfanie Moon, who presides over Domestic Violence cases. They observed hearings involving Petitions for Injunction for Protection Against Domestic Violence, listening to the testimonies of Broward Sheriff’s Deputies and learning how legal protections are granted. Judge Moon later spoke directly with the Leaguers, breaking down the legal process and explaining how these cases are handled under Florida law.

The day ended over lunch with the Assistant City Attorney for Pompano Beach, who shared his personal story and professional journey. As a Black attorney navigating the legal field, he offered both guidance and motivation.
