Marriage equality didn’t just happen. People worked for it.

Today we celebrate the freedom to marry — and we stay committed to protecting it tomorrow. Love deserves that.

Taking down a flag does not erase our history. But it does remind us why we cannot rely solely on governments to tell it.

The Stonewall Inn is privately owned and independently operated. We are not affiliated with the federal government and we will never lower our flag or stop protecting our history.

The Stonewall National Monument was established to honor the origins of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement. When symbols directly tied to that history are removed, it raises serious concerns about how our story is being stewarded.

LGBTQ+ history has too often been minimized, sanitized, or erased from official narratives. That is why the Stonewall Inn continues to stand as living history, protected and carried forward by the community itself.

The Pride flag at The Stonewall monument is not partisan. It is historical. We believe it should be restored.

That is why our history will never be erased-and at the Stonewall Inn, all flags representing our community will always continue to fly.

Statement from the Spencer Pride Board of Directors

The Spencer Pride Board of Directors is devastated by the murder of Alex Pretti at the hands of DHS agents on the streets of Minneapolis. Alex was more than a name in a headline; they were a dedicated caregiver who lived a life defined by showing up for others. Their loss is a profound blow to all who value the sanctity of life and community care.

We stand in firm solidarity with those grieving Alex’s loss and those resisting the systemic violence that continues to target our neighbors. Now is the time for a path forward that centers compassion, accountability, and community-led solutions.

🌈✨ 2026 IRCC Membership Directory — Coming Soon! ✨🌈

As conditions improve and it becomes safe to return to business as usual—with roads cleared and temperatures rising—we encourage our community to show up for local businesses when they need it most.

Many LGBTQ+ and allied small business owners were forced to close during the recent snowstorm, missing a minimum of two days of income. For small businesses, especially at the end of the month, that lost revenue can be a dealbreaker.

Now is the perfect time to reconnect, reopen, and reinvest in our community.

Looking for your next favorite business, service, or product?
📘 The 2026 IRCC Membership Directory is coming soon—your go-to guide for LGBTQ+ and allied business owners across Central Indiana.

Stay tuned and thank you for helping our community recover, rebuild, and thrive—together. 💙

In honor of Dr K. birthday. It's important we read his speeches and books.

🔥 DOWN BELOW! Experience. Share. A list, with links, of Rev. Dr. speeches and sermons in which he speaks truth powerfully, shares about his philosophy of nonviolence, and expounds on issues of injustice and what our righteous, rigorous response should be. Relevant. Revelatory. Revolutionary.

✔️Our featured writing is The World House chapter from ’s last published book before he was assassinated, ‘Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?’ Here’s an excerpt from that chapter, but we encourage you to read the entire book: https://www.beaconbroadside.com/broadside/2010/01/martin-luther-king-jr-the-world-house-excerpt.html

✔️“Nonviolence is not sterile passivity, but a powerful moral force which makes for social transformation.” Acceptance Speech - https://youtu.be/az8VvmcgNpE

✔️“It's more difficult today because we are struggling now for genuine equality. And it's much easier to integrate a lunch counter than it is to guarantee a livable income and a good solid job.” From ‘The Other America.’ https://youtu.be/dOWDtDUKz-U

✔️“This problem of spiritual and moral lag, which constitutes modern man's chief dilemma, expresses itself in three larger problems which grow out of man's ethical infantilism.” From ’s Nobel Peace Prize Lecture, ‘The Quest for Peace and Justice’ https://youtu.be/CzMFOljSYIk

✔️From ‘Paul’s Letter to American Christians’: “Oh America, how often have you taken necessities from the masses to give luxuries to the classes.” https://youtu.be/7p5iOhXumaQ

✔️Not a speech or a sermon, but an interview in which Dr. King shares powerfully and brilliantly. https://youtu.be/D7Y8Q9nSK5A

✔️“I never intend to adjust myself to racial segregation and discrimination. I never intend to adjust myself to religious bigotry...” Brief, but still . Are you maladjusted and proud? https://youtu.be/hhCtkfImxuE

✔️ in 1967, sounding like he’s talking in 2026: “And so the collision course is set. The people cry for freedom and the congress attempts to legislate repression.” From ‘The Three Evils of Society.’ https://youtu.be/6sT9Hjh0cHM

✔️‘Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence.’ Please spend some time with it. “If America's soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the autopsy must read: Vietnam. It can never be saved so long as it destroys the deepest hopes of men the world over.” https://youtu.be/AJhgXKGldUk

✔️Not a speech or a sermon, but an interview with NBC in which Dr. King shares powerfully and brilliantly. https://youtu.be/2xsbt3a7K-8

✔️And now, ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail.’ A masterpiece. “You deplore the demonstrations taking place in Birmingham. But your statement, I am sorry to say, fails to express a similar concern for the conditions that brought about the demonstrations.” https://www.africa.upenn.edu/Articles_Gen/Letter_Birmingham.html
