🌟SYCF Board Spotlight | Linda Protine

Behind every scholarship awarded, every grant given, and every student supported - It's Linda who makes sure it all runs right.

She retired after 28 years in public service with the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools, and instead of stepping back, she stepped in. For the past 7 years, she's been the steady hand behind SYCF's scholarship program, helping local students access funds to go further in their education.

18 years of giving. All of it staying right here in Yuba-Sutter.

Since SYCF started in 2007, people right here in Yuba and Sutter Counties have come together to fund scholarships for local students, grants for local nonprofits, and support for the arts, health services, education, and houses of worship.

Over 100 neighbors packed this room - not just for a good meal, but for something bigger. 🏘️

This was one of our past fundraiser luncheons, and every person who showed up helped make sure more money went straight back to local grants and scholarships right here in Yuba-Sutter. Since 2007, moments like this one have helped us distribute over $300,000 to the families, nonprofits, and students who needed it most. Every single dollar stayed home.

We are proud of what this community builds when it comes together. Our next fundraiser is coming. Stay tuned. 👀

We’re excited to celebrate the YFACA Homesteaders Program! 🌱

Through a grant from the Sutter Yuba Community Foundation, YFACA will continue offering monthly classes and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the Yuba Foothills.

From gardening and seed swaps to food preservation, foraging, and fermentation, this program is helping neighbors learn practical skills, share knowledge, and strengthen our rural communities.

🌱 EXCITING NEWS FOR YFACA HOMESTEADERS! 🌱

We’re happy to announce that the YFACA Homesteaders Program has been awarded a grant from the Sutter Yuba Community Foundation! 🎉

This funding will help us continue offering our monthly educational classes and hands-on learning opportunities throughout the Yuba Foothills. Grant funds will support educational supplies, demonstration materials, seeds, instructional resources, outreach, and other program needs.

The Homesteaders Program began in 2023 with a simple goal: bring people together to learn practical skills, share knowledge, and strengthen our rural community.

From gardening and seed swaps to food preservation, foraging, fermentation, and other traditional homesteading skills, we’re excited to keep learning, growing, and bringing new opportunities to our community.
