A few months ago, Waypoint was just an idea

On July 22, we'll be hosting our first Community Resource Navigation Workshop at the Ypsilanti District Library.

The goal is simple: help people find resources, understand what's available in Washtenaw County, and connect with organizations that can help.

Housing. Employment. Food. Benefits. Recovery. Transportation.

No one should have to navigate it all alone.

Michigan has made incredible progress, but every overdose death is still one too many. At Waypoint Outreach Initiative, we believe recovery is possible and support should meet people where they are. Let's continue connecting people to treatment, recovery support, housing, employment resources, and overdose prevention services so we can get this number down even further.

Michigan’s overdose death rate peaked at 30.8 deaths per 100,000 residents in 2021. That rate is expected to have declined 47% in four years, reaching 16.4 in 2025, according to preliminary data published by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

Exciting News from Waypoint Outreach Initiative 🧭

We are currently exploring the development of a new project called Waypoint Forward.

Waypoint Forward is being developed to help connect individuals and families with recovery support, housing resources, employment opportunities, community connections, and reentry-related services.

As part of this exploration, we are especially interested in learning more about the needs of women returning to the community from Women's Huron Valley Correctional Facility and the families who support them.

We are currently seeking community input, potential volunteers, advocates, social work students, peer supporters, and community partners who may be interested in helping shape this initiative.

This project is currently in the planning and development phase.

Outreach completed today in Ypsilanti 🙌💜
Every hygiene kit we brought out was distributed today.
Huge thank you to Theron T. Logan aka T Money for volunteering, bringing good energy, and helping make today’s outreach a success.

From the outreach conversations to a great lunch afterward at Bellflower, today was a reminder that community is built one interaction at a time.

We’re continuing to build Waypoint Outreach Initiative step by step, outreach by outreach. Appreciate everyone supporting the mission. 💜

Huge thank you to Stimulatte Café
for supporting the Waypoint Outreach Initiative and helping us continue serving our community here in Ypsilanti. ☕💙

Today we picked up a donation of disinfecting wipes that will go directly into outreach and hygiene support efforts for neighbors facing hardship.

What makes this even more special is learning that Stimulatte Cafe is one of only a small number of restaurants in Washtenaw County participating in the Restaurant Meal Program (RMP) and accepting EBT for eligible community members. That kind of compassion and accessibility matters.

Local businesses like this truly make a difference by meeting people with dignity, kindness, and community support.

If you’re in Ypsilanti, make sure to stop by and support them — great drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and a team that genuinely cares about people.

What We Do:

Our goal is simple: help everyone we can. Sometimes change starts with resources. Sometimes it starts with hope. Sometimes it just starts with a conversation.
