The tree planting kickoff workday was a huge success! Volunteers joined Kendall County Forest Preserve staff to plant several dozen native oak, hickory, hazelnut, elderberry, and buckeye trees at Harris Forest Preserve.

While the trees are small now, they will one day provide habitat and food for hundreds of birds, mammals, and insects.

No experience is needed to join them. Please bring a pair of gloves and a willingness to dig in! Tools will be provided.

These photos were taken earlier today. Click on each image to learn the names of the species you might encounter on a walk through our preserves.
