🚨EXAMPLE LETTER:

Dear __________,
I am a constituent of LD (2) and have concerns about the education funding in our district and the state. The McCleary decision on funding did not fully fund education-we still depend on levy dollars to enrich our students with arts, music, band, sports and clubs. The monies also go to lowering class size, academic intervention paras, and supervision. Our district is not competitive with the ones around us with opportunities-our student resumes are lacking, and a result of this inequity will be a weaker community. Funding has divided our community-people are being taxed out of homes. It is a systematic problem that needs resolution-that begins with the paramount duty to fully fund education-not just math and reading. We need you-the legislators to speak up and truly fully fund our schools in Washington state. Yelm Community Schools First Coalition

Dear Community Volunteers,

On behalf of The First Coalition 1st Coalition in support of Yelm Community Schools, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and hard work in helping us raise awareness for the levy. Your time, energy, and commitment have made a tangible difference in our community.

The third levy not passing, it’s clear that we must take a step back and reevaluate our approach. We must acknowledge the realities of the situation:

The McCleary funds are not providing the level of support our schools truly need. These funds fall short of addressing the full scope of our community's educational needs. Basic Education funding has stretched far beyond its original intent. What was once designed to ensure a minimum level of funding for all districts has become insufficient to meet the growing demands of our students and educators. Higher taxes remain a primary concern for those who voted "no."

We must listen to the concerns of our community members and recognize that many are struggling with the impact of increased taxes.

That said, we must continue working together to find solutions. There are many ways we can continue to support Yelm and strengthen our community, despite the challenges ahead. Here are a few ways we can keep pushing forward:

Continue to Raise Awareness
Talk to your neighbors and friends about the importance of
supporting our schools. Share the facts, the stories, and the real-world impact a levy would have on our students.

Get Involved in Future Campaigns
Whether it's through another levy, fundraising efforts, or local
community support programs, there will always be opportunities to help.

Support Local Events and Initiatives
Attend school board meetings, community gatherings, and fundraisers to show your ongoing commitment to improving our town and schools.

Volunteer
Your presence in our community remains invaluable. Volunteering for school events or other local organizations keeps our collective spirit alive and strong.

This coalition has shown what is possible when we come together with a shared purpose: to support our schools, our students, and our future. We are proud to have such dedicated volunteers like you standing alongside us, and we know that, together, we can continue to advocate for positive change.

Thank you once again for everything you've done. Let's keep pushing forward for a brighter tomorrow!

We will not stop or give up. The calls we received today have only fueled our passion even more. To make the necessary changes, it will require more help to make these changes.

My son and his friends were deeply saddened last night by the reality of what lies ahead, with the levy not passing. Personally, I am incredibly disheartened. We worked so hard on this, and the outcome is truly disappointing. But we won't let this setback define us. We will continue to fight for what’s best for our community and future generations.

I am personally heartbroken and send so much love out to the kids, staff, Teachers, and our Community.
