Trail Report-5/28/26-Kelly Butte (a lookout challenge)-WTA has details and trip reports.
Current conditions:
Road-FR 70 and 7030 are for all vehicles with a few rough spots.
Use the WTA directions to wind your way to the trail head. Just short of the trail head 7030 appears to turn left, go straight and you are soon at the parking area.
Trail-Generally in good shape with some steep, rocky, and narrow sections. As you climb there are some great views of Rainier. The upper part of the trail is a pleasant open forest walk.
The lookout covers a lot of private land that has been logged. These areas have been planted with Douglas fir and are recovering nicely.
No bugs or water.
This is a long drive and parts of the trail may slow you down a bit. Plan on a full day.
