What does representation mean?

In our latest newsletter, we explore why representation matters, how it creates belonging, and why visibility is essential to participation and representative government.

This issue also includes updates on:

• Make Rural Voices Count and the expansion of our billboard campaign
• New investments in rural civic infrastructure
• Additional Can We Talk workshops
• Polling in Central Washington

75,000 newly registered voters reached.

15 billboards already live.

30 billboards is the next milestone.

The 2026 campaign is focused on increasing turnout among young, Latino, and Indigenous voters in communities that could flip six key races in Central Washington.

This is how long term change is built.

We are building something different.

Fifteen Make Rural Voices Count billboards are already live across Central Washington. Our immediate goal is thirty. Our long term goal is narrative change, increased voter turnout, and hundreds of billboards across rural Washington.

Rural Americans United has already reached more than 75,000 newly registered voters. Now we are building a communications infrastructure designed to reach rural communities year after year, election after election.

A huge thank you to the Washington Women's Foundation for inviting Rural Americans United to their Yakima event. This incredible group is launching a “placement” grant based on the idea of proximity. They want to give in a way that builds community, and to do that, they are taking the time to truly understand the communities they support rather than remaining bystanders.

It was an honor to be invited to participate in the early stages of this initiative in Central Washington.
