We had a GREAT opening retreat for this year’s students for our launch out leadership training. For the next 9 months we will walking together into a journey of growth and impact. We started at the airport viewing area…envisioning where the journey will take them and us this year. We studied opening leadership concepts and team building activities (including buying and preparing our dinner). We played on the water 🌊 ☀️. We shared meaningful life-stories, broke bread, and ended the night with communion around the fire. Wow ❤️. It’s going to be an amazing year with our LAUNCH OUT student leaders!

THANK YOU to everyone that helped us to pass our goal for the golf fundraiser. The TOTAL SUPPORT RAISED through this event was $41,516! That’s a great start towards our fiscal budget goal of $235k. Thank you 🙏!

We are humbled and deeply encouraged! Now it’s time to finish planning and preparations for an exciting year of impact ahead of us!

Our after school programming starts on September 22. Pray for our kids as they begin the school year.

THANK YOU to the volunteers and generous sponsors for an amazing golf fundraiser yesterday (shout out to TwoGuys Brewing for the amazing lunch 😋 and to Corrigan Logistics for covering the greens fees!). And a very special thank you to our teens 💜 who volunteered and who had the courage to share their story during the event. Their stories are our mission! THEY are inspiring!

We will give a total giving update from the event at the end of next week. Our GOAL was $40k for this fundraiser, and we were at about $25k going into it. Help us to meet that goal by GIVING ONLINE: https://www.atticafterschool.org.

We did something new today! We had a training for the teens that will be volunteering for our golf fundraising event on Friday. They will be leading some games on the course and practice sharing their story with…you 💜. We talked about why this event matters…why it REALLY matters. It matters because of the power of their stories. It matters so that you can hear it. Because they are powerful beyond what they can fully see, alongside of God, to write a beautiful life story.

The main purpose of this event is to raise support, elevate student stories, and to find partners to expand our work in helping urban teens to write a better story.

We’ve got some EXCITING NEWS! 🙌
Today this group of Attic students cleaned and organized the Hand2Hand pantry for Harbor Life Church. Why? Because starting this school year, once a month our Attic teens will SERVE to pack weekend bags of food for the Wyoming/Grandville schools that are served through this pantry. How beautiful is that? 🤜🤛

Today this group paused to reflect that many Attic teens have received food assistance through H2H in the past…and NOW they get to give back! And who knows…maybe the food bag that an Attic teen packs might get delivered to the very locker that they had in elementary school just a few years ago 💜.
That is poetic community development by young people who are ready to contribute to the Shalom.
