Hi everyone! I’m Ken, Board President of Camp Get-A-Way.
I first came to camp to support a youth I was working with, and that experience quickly turned into something much bigger. I joined the staff and eventually oversaw crisis management and training. Later, I was invited to join the Board, and for the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as Board President.
What I love most about camp is seeing youth and families succeed in things they once thought were out of reach—whether that’s hitting a target in archery or learning to express their feelings in a healthy, confident way. In my role, I help guide the organization’s overall direction, including program development, hiring and supervision, strategic planning, and identifying new funding
opportunities.
Favorite camp memory:
Watching parents choose to stay and experience activities alongside their kids instead of attending training sessions.
Go-to campfire snack:
A perfectly toasted marshmallow—s’mores can be tricky with a beard!
Hidden talent:
Architecture sketching. It’s been a hobby of mine since 5th grade, and while I’ve built up quite a collection of designs over the years, these days I mostly use it for small home renovation projects.
Spirit-animal energy:
A llama—fun and full of personality, but with a signature “judgy” look. Just like me.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me—I’m looking forward to seeing you all at camp!
