🚨 THANK YOU Wilmot Fire Company!!🚨
Tonight the RiT members went over Intro to the Fire Service & Firefighter Safety.
Tonight’s lesson was high on the importance of communication, understanding the chain of command, and thinking before acting. After the classwork portion of the evening was over, they were separated into 2 groups.
They were given a scenario of a structure fire, unknown occupants, and their engine crew was 5 minutes out. Group 1 took on the obstacle course and completed the initial search without finding the victim. Group 2 completed the obstacle course and found the victim. The groups then completed this course again and was told they needed to be faster and were told to complete in under 5 minutes. Both groups found the victim. The students all agreed that with the Nomex (protective hood) over their eyes it was incredibly difficult to see and find their way without getting disoriented.
And of course, after the students were done the Wilmot guys (especially their chief!) had to get in on the fun! 🚨🚒
