🚨 BIG things are happening in Sullivan County! 🚨

Responders in Training is continuing to grow, and we’re proud to bring hands-on firefighter education right to our local communities.

Huge thank you to Chief Yonkin, Dushore Fire-Rescue, and Mildred Fire Company for opening their doors and helping us teach Fire Dynamics and Firefighter PPE.

These students are putting in the work NOW to become the next generation of firefighters. 🔥👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Drop a 🔥 in the comments to support these future first responders!

Tag someone who should know about our program or share this post to help us reach future students and departments.

🚨 THANK YOU Wilmot Fire Company!!🚨

Tonight the RiT members went over Intro to the Fire Service & Firefighter Safety.

Tonight’s lesson was high on the importance of communication, understanding the chain of command, and thinking before acting. After the classwork portion of the evening was over, they were separated into 2 groups.

They were given a scenario of a structure fire, unknown occupants, and their engine crew was 5 minutes out. Group 1 took on the obstacle course and completed the initial search without finding the victim. Group 2 completed the obstacle course and found the victim. The groups then completed this course again and was told they needed to be faster and were told to complete in under 5 minutes. Both groups found the victim. The students all agreed that with the Nomex (protective hood) over their eyes it was incredibly difficult to see and find their way without getting disoriented.

And of course, after the students were done the Wilmot guys (especially their chief!) had to get in on the fun! 🚨🚒

Fire & EMS leaders quick question:

What would it mean for your department to have motivated, trained, and community-minded young people ready to step into volunteer service?

Responders in Training (RiT) helps introduce students to Fire & EMS through structured, hands-on learning designed to support local departments and strengthen future membership.

💬 We’d love to start the conversation.
