Please join us Friday, October 2 at the Hideout Supermax Suites for our fourth annual Bottle Kill Night—our most popular tasting event of the year! Link to purchase tickets is below!

We’ll finish off some of the remaining pours from bottles we’ve opened throughout the year, along with a few special bottles we’ve been saving for the occasion—including the new E.H. Taylor Cured Oak, Heaven Hill 22, Rittenhouse 10, Starlight 10, and Wild Turkey Master’s Keep Beacon!

To determine the order, we’ll put everyone’s name into an online randomizer and draft fantasy-football snake-draft style. Once everyone has selected a pour, we’ll reverse the order and go again.

Each attendee will receive at least four one-ounce pours, with the possibility of more depending on attendance and what we have available.

It’s always one of our most fun nights of the year. Hope you can join us!

We've also hired International Ci**rs to come and roll handmade ci**rs. The team at International Ci**rs is authentically trained in the old ways of the Dominican Republic. It's going to be a fantastic evening! Space is limited so sign up now.

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, resilience, and the enduring American spirit.

Whether you’re raising a glass of bourbon, rye, or your favorite American wh***ey, here’s to the distillers, farmers, veterans, first responders, and everyday Americans who make this nation so special.

We’re grateful to be part of a community that comes together over great wh***ey to make a difference for others.

After some rain and wind, we were finally able to get the garage door open and enjoy a beautiful night at the Hideout!

Battle of the Brands II matched defending champion Buffalo Trace against challenger Wild Turkey. The tasting was 100% blind—attendees had no idea what they were drinking. Last year, Buffalo Trace edged out Heaven Hill by a single vote. This year, it was pure domination: 142–97.

I’ll admit it seemed a little unfair that the Buffalo Trace expressions were allocated bottles. But just because a bottle is allocated doesn’t mean it’s better!

The biggest surprise came in the first round. The LL/ME Russell’s 10 was rumored to contain 13–15-year-old bourbon that didn’t make the cut for Russell’s 13, and Henry McKenna dominated Eagle Rare in last year’s tasting. Seeing Eagle Rare beat the LL/ME Russell’s 10 by that much may have been the biggest shocker of the night.

Regardless, it was an amazing evening. Great wh***ey, great company, and more than $1,800 raised for the Minnesota 100 Club.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, and supported an incredible organization that serves Minnesota’s first responders and their families. A special thank-you to the Pork Chop Guys for the amazing food, it was the perfect complement to a great night of wh***ey and fundraising.

Not a bad way to spend a Friday night!

Battle of the Brands II: After narrowly defeating Heaven Hill by a single vote in our inaugural Battle of the Brands, the defending champion from Frankfort, KY, will take on its Lawrenceburg, KY, neighbor just 30 miles south!

Prepare for a clash of titans as four expressions from Buffalo Trace Distillery go head-to-head against four expressions from Wild Turkey Distillery in a blind tasting event.

Buffalo Trace Distillery, one of America’s oldest continuously operating distilleries, traces its roots back to 1775. Over the centuries, it has survived fires, floods, and even Prohibition, emerging as a powerhouse in bourbon innovation.

Wild Turkey Distillery is one of Kentucky’s most historic bourbon distilleries, recognized for producing bold, traditional bourbon using a consistent mash bill and aging approach for decades. The distillery is known for its strong focus on craftsmanship, higher-proof expressions, and multi-generational leadership that has helped shape modern American wh***ey.

We have some leftover bottles from our latest single barrel up at Backyard Liquors in St Michael (101 Central Ave E).

Bluegrass Distillers is a craft bourbon producer based in Lexington, Kentucky. Unlike many newer bourbon brands, they don’t primarily source their wh***ey—they’ve been distilling their own since the early 2010s.

Elkwood Reserve is Bluegrass’s premium line, featuring older barrels and limited single barrel releases. Our selection comes in at 127 proof, bottled at cask strength, with a mash bill of 78% corn, 13% rye, and 9% malted barley.

Shortly after our selection, both our men’s and women’s Olympic hockey teams brought home gold. To celebrate, we created a special Olympic-themed sticker to complement the red, white, blue, and gold colors of the Elkwood label.

Nose: Toffee and caramel

Palate: Nice upfront sweetness, then opens into cherry, cinnamon, and a cola/Dr Pepper note

Finish: Long finish with lingering cola character, building rye spice, and some oak—well balanced and not overly tannic

Overall: Drinks below its 127 proof. Delicious!

Price is a little less than $100 out the door.

A 12-year wh***ey is where maturity meets complexity. On May 15, we’ll explore how time shapes flavor, structure, and identity in every glass.

Join us on Friday, May 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Hideout Supermax Suites in St. Michael, where we’ll crack into a lineup of 12-year heavy hitters, including not one—but TWO unicorn pours to kick things off.

Each person will get:

1/2 ounce pour of Eagle Rare 12 and Jack Daniel’s 12-Year.

Then build your own adventure with FOUR additional 1/2 ounce pours from this stacked lineup:

Back in February, eight WCWC members joined our newest distribution partner, Franklin Selections, to sample 10 different single barrels. In the end, we selected an unfinished, cask strength bourbon from Bluegrass Distillers’ Elkwood Series.

Elkwood Reserve is Bluegrass’s premium line, featuring older barrels and limited single barrel releases. Our selection comes in at 127 proof, bottled at cask strength, with a mash bill of 78% corn, 13% rye, and 9% malted barley.

Bluegrass Distillers is a craft bourbon producer based in Lexington, Kentucky. Unlike many newer bourbon brands, they don’t primarily source their wh***ey—they’ve been distilling their own since the early 2010s. They emphasize locally sourced ingredients and hands-on production, embodying a true “grain-to-glass” approach. The distillery even grows some of its own non-GMO blue corn on-site and manages the full process from milling and mashing to distilling, aging, and bottling.

Shortly after our selection, both our men’s and women’s Olympic hockey teams brought home gold. Wow—I initially balked at the price tag, but after a sample, I was sold!

An ultra-rare extension of Woodford Reserve’s acclaimed Double Oaked program, this “Double Double Double Double Double Oaked” release represents the pinnacle of oak maturation.

After its initial maturation in new charred oak barrels, the bourbon undergoes not one, not two, but multiple secondary finishes in heavily toasted new oak barrels. Each finishing cycle deepens the caramelization of wood sugars, enhancing complexity while maintaining Woodford’s signature elegance.

Tasting Notes:
• Nose: Fresh-cut oak staves, toasted barrel char, pencil shavings, antique cedar chest, rich mahogany, dark caramelized sugar, and charred vanilla bean

• Palate: Intense waves of toasted oak, dry cocoa husk, burnt caramel, seasoned rickhouse timber, espresso roast, and roasted pecan shells

• Finish: Long, drying, and structured — heavy oak tannin, smoky barrel char, leather-bound book, baking spice, and lingering toasted wood sugars

This is oak dialed up to eleven — structured, tannic, and unapologetically barrel-forward. The 90.4 proof keeps it composed, but make no mistake: this pour is all about the wood.

Allocated. Highly sought after. Not for the faint of palate!
