You’ve heard a lot about our scholarship awards. But that’s not all we do!

Global Horizons exists to support students with the drive to improve the world. But we also want to model something we hope every future leader learns early: impact isn’t evenly distributed.

That’s why our scholarships are paired with donations to highly effective organizations working on global pressing problems. The chart below (from Giving What We Can) illustrates the the stark reality: cost-effectiveness can differ by 100X+ across charities.

The problems we face are vast, and we only have limited resources. We believe it’s important to focus on the right problems and use our resources effectively to address them.

1️⃣GiveWell estimates that their top-rated charities, like the Against Malaria Foundation, have saved thousands of lives at around $5,000 per life saved.
2️⃣Animal Charity Evaluators estimates that the most effective animal organizations can help dozens, or even hundreds of animals for every dollar spent.

We believe in empowering the next generation to choose important problems and pursue high-leverage solutions, while also supporting outstanding organizations doing highly effective work today.
