Friends, supporters, and families — Elliott’s Voice is taking a short pause until next week. 💙

Life behind the scenes has been very full lately. We are in the middle of a move, getting our oldest settled back into college life, and helping Elliott adjust to a brand-new environment, routine, and schedule. As many families in the disability community know, transitions can take extra time, patience, and support.

Right now, our main focus is making sure Elliott feels settled, comfortable, and secure before jumping fully back into the work of Elliott’s Voice. Family has to come first for a little bit while we navigate all of these changes together.

Some of this happened more suddenly than we expected, and I may share more about that at another time. For now, we are taking a small step back to focus on home, rest, and getting everyone adjusted.

I know I’ve been quieter than usual, but Elliott’s Voice is still here and still deeply important to our family. Thank you for always supporting accessibility, communication, and our journey.

We’ll be back soon. 💙

A little late posting for Apraxia Awareness Month because life has been a little chaotic lately — sick kiddos, end of school, moving, therapy, advocacy, and just trying to keep up with it all.

But awareness still matters, even in the middle of the chaos. 💙

Thank you to Councilman Michael D. Crain for Fort Worth for recognizing May as Apraxia Awareness Month in Fort Worth and for continuing to support families like ours.

And thank you to Elliott’s teachers, therapists, and everyone who helps children with apraxia find their voice every single day.

Communication is different for everyone.

May is Apraxia Awareness Month, and if I’m being honest, this mom has been in full end-of-school survival mode. 💙

One son moved out of his college dorm, one still has weekly (sometimes daily 😅) elementary school programs, field days, therapy, and end-of-year events… and somewhere in between all of that, advocacy still continues.

I may not have posted as much this month, but that does not mean the mission has stopped.

Tonight is one of my favorite traditions we do each year for Elliott’s Voice and the apraxia community — the City of Fort Worth recognizing Apraxia Awareness Month during City Council. These recognitions matter because they put our kids, AAC users, and communication differences in front of city leaders and our community. Awareness starts with people seeing us.

If you’d like to join us, the proclamation will be tonight at 5:30 PM at Fort Worth City Council.

And to every parent balancing advocacy, therapies, school events, work, exhaustion, and just trying to hold it all together this month… I see you. 💙

Thank you Unity Behavioral Services for sharing our heart and work!!!

There are friends, and then there are forces of nature. Our friend Kendra is absolutely the latter.

We are so incredibly proud to highlight Kendra and the incredible work she’s doing through her non-profit, Elliott’s Voice They say "a mother's determination becomes a movement," and Kendra is the living proof.

Instead of waiting for the world to catch up, she paved her own path to ensure every single child in our community has a way to be heard. Elliott's Voice creates and donates free AAC communication boards for emergency services, parks, schools, and public spaces across North Texas. It’s practical, life-changing work that makes our communities safer and more inclusive for everyone.

She is a true . Please join us in celebrating her passion and the amazing impact she's making! ♥️💙

Elliott’s Voice emergency communication boards were displayed at a town hall last night.

These boards are created for moments when communication matters most—especially in emergencies.

Seeing them in spaces like this is a step toward greater awareness and access.

One moment…
he was feeding the giraffe.

The next…
his voice was gone.

His AAC device fell into the Rhino enclosure.
And just like that, communication wasn’t accessible anymore.

This is exactly why public places need their own communication boards.
Because devices fail. Moments don’t wait.

Communication is different for everyone. 🤍
