In 2018, it was Denniston Hill’s sincere joy to host multiform artist Chloë Bass in residence through our partnership with the Laundromat Project, an organization devoted to advancing New York City artists and neighbors as change agents in the their own communities.
On Wednesday, January 18, 7:00pm at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California, join Chloë in conversation with curators Cate Thurston and Taylor Renee Aldridge about the roles of institutions and artists with respect to private memories in public spaces. The conversation will be moderated by artist and writer Gelare Khoshgozaran.
We hold deep admiration for Chloë’s practice—each of her projects begin with research to address scales of intimacy: where patterns hold and break as groups expand—and we continue to eagerly follow her work. CHLOË BASS: WAYFINDING, now at Skirball Cultural enter in Los Angeles, NY, offers an exercise in emotional wayfinding. Billboards posted throughout Skirball’s gardens encourage viewers to look inward. In WAYFINDING, we find resonance with our own practice of intersubjective love and communion in the Catskill Mountains. You might find your own experience of connection.
Cate Thurston curated the final stop of Chloë’s nationwide exhibition, WAYFINDING, on view at Skirball Cultural Center thought March 12, 2023, and Taylor Renee Aldridge its fifth, site-specific section, , at the California African American Museum at A+P, on view through January 21, 2023.
