It's become even more clear these days how precious our food system is and how important every person along the supply chain is from our farmers to our grocers to our chefs. Mary Kimball is an agriculture and food system leader and powerhouse. She has dedicated much of her career to helping bring in the next generation of farmers that we must have for a bright, nutrient-rich and sustainable future. We interviewed Mary to learn more about her story and the great work she is doing in Yolo County as the Executive Director of the Center for Land Based Learning. Please read her story and share it with all those that care about our farmers, our food system and our future. Thank you for all your work, Mary! https://www.landandladle.com/growing-communities-through-environmental-stewardship-and-farm-training-mary-kimballs-role-in-agricultural-leadership/

This documentary, Hearts of Glass, is inspiring. It reminds you of the power of food and its potential to strengthen and empower communities. It's also a wonderful story of resilience, the entrepreneurial spirit and love. This free screening next week of the film will be followed by a short panel.

David Kaisel participated in and graduated from our Beginning Farmer Training Program in 2014. Since then, he has launched Capay Mills with a mission to reintroduce bakers and chefs to fresh-milled, locally-grown heritage grains. Today, David has grown his business tremendously. His delicious flour can be found in farmers markets and grocery stores in the Bay Area and Yolo County. We are so proud of David and all that he has created over the past several years, and excited to celebrate his accomplishments this weekend at the Ca Farm Academy Inauguration dinner. Thank you again to Suncrest Bank for their support and sponsorship of the "Seasoned Plow Awards".
