Big changes ahead for Dogs On the Go!

Moving house is always a daunting task, right?

Now imagine helping a non-profit move!

Our Board of Directors recently decided to forego investing in a brick and mortar building for now.

This crucial change will drastically reduce our ongoing costs - and allow us to remain laser-focused on:
1) increased community awareness of hearing dogs
2) increased numbers of coaching clients and their dogs.

We are especially grateful for volunteer Montana - who graciously invited us, the dogs, and our chaos into her home last autumn.

This move was accomplished only through the dedication of "our amazing community" - volunteers, clients, and board members alike. Together, we are unstoppable :-)

Please help us welcome our newest trainee, adorable Toby and his mom Quinn, to our Dogs On the Go community!

Toby is a 9 month old mini Doodle. Quinn communicates in American Sign Language and reads lips. She is also a natural dog trainer.

Quinn and Toby have already completed the AKC STAR Puppy Program and will soon complete their AKC Canine Good Citizen exam.

Quinn and Toby live in Kankakee County, Illinois. In spite of the physical distance, Quinn and Toby can become a successful hearing dog team by engaging in our highly effective virtual sound work coaching program.

As a future hearing dog, Toby will help Quinn reach her goal of getting her first apartment - and living safely, knowing that Toby will alert her to many sounds in the home she would otherwise miss. Welcome, Toby and Quinn!

With heavy hearts, we share the recent, unexpected death of our Board Treasurer, Karl Jung.
Karl was collaborative and kind - a quiet, witty math wiz with entrepreneurial acumen. We will miss him and remember him.
We are grateful for the Jung family's request for memorial donations to Dogs On the Go. Pictured with grand "furchild" Sparky.

Heartfelt thanks to the McHenry/Wonder Lake Lions for their generous recent donation to Dogs On the Go!
Many people know that the Lions raise funds for vision-related charities. But the Lions' mission ALSO includes supporting non-profit services for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
The Lions are a powerhouse organization - and we are grateful for their commitment to service and our community. Please consider joining your local Lions Club!

Please help us welcome our newest trainee: The handsome and highly intelligent Boaz! This 10 month old German Shepherd pup has his toy at the ready. And he has quickly demonstrated keen interest in a new career alerting mom Laurie to the many sounds she misses at home due to hearing loss. Laurie and her family are snowbirds. With our virtual sound work training, Boaz and Laurie will pursue their goal of becoming a hearing dog team UNINTERRUPTED throughout winter!
