Sometimes I feel like I have imposter syndrome when it comes to the rescue.

Every time someone donates, attends an event or supports what we do, I’m genuinely amazed. It’s hard to understand why so many people believe in something that started with an ordinary person who simply loved pigs and wanted to help them.

A lot has changed in the almost seven years since. I met Chris, got married, rescued three dogs and lost 150 pounds. Chester and I were apparently on the same diet, although I’m pretty sure I complained about my portions more than he did. 😂

In that time, we’ve helped more than 100 pigs through rescue and transportation. We’ve also grown a community of people who care about these animals and believe they deserve better.

I don’t think people realize just how far their dollars go here. Donations cover necessities like food, bedding, veterinary care and supplies, but they also make projects like our new quarantine area possible. Every improvement helps us care for the pigs already here while preparing us to safely help the next one who needs us.

When I stop and think about everything we’ve accomplished, I have a hard time taking it all in. Most days, I still feel like an ordinary person who just loves pigs.

After we mentioned Edgar in our quarantine pen fundraiser, several people asked how he was doing. We’re happy to share that he is living his best life in his new home! 🐷❤️

We first learned about Edgar the week before Christmas in 2024. This very young pig had been roaming near a local livestock auction for weeks during a bitter cold snap. He survived by hiding beneath a mobile home to escape the snow, with nowhere safe or warm to go.

People in the area were trying to catch him, and one family offered to give him a permanent home. They were new to pigs, though, and needed time to prepare a proper setup. We offered to help catch Edgar, provide his veterinary care and foster him until his new family was ready.

The moment we received another sighting, friends of ours rushed over and were able to catch him. Thanks to our generous donors, we were also able to cover his veterinary care and neuter.

Edgar spent the winter with us and even lived inside our house for several weeks while recovering from surgery, completely taking over our bathroom! I cherished that time with him. We snuggled every day, and I worked on socializing him and preparing him for life with his new family.

In the summer of 2025, Edgar finally went home. I hated saying goodbye, but I was thrilled knowing he was going to a family who already loved him so much. He primarily lives outdoors but is welcome inside for visits and whenever the weather is bad.

Edgar is almost two years old now, and his life could have turned out very differently. Had he been caught and returned to the auction, he could have been sold to anyone or even become someone’s meal. Although Edgar is what many people consider a “pet pig,” pigs like him are still viewed as food animals by much of the world.

He was incredibly lucky to survive alone in the cold, and even luckier that so many people came together to change his future. Now he is safe, deeply loved and living exactly the life we hoped for him. Just look at that happy boy! 🥹🐽

Peanut is the only pig who will happily come out in the rain 🤣

Her pen mates will brave a rainy day for meals or snacks, but otherwise, they prefer to stay dry inside their house. Peanut, however, doesn’t care if it’s downpouring. Her FOMO is stronger than her desire to stay dry, and she always wants to be wherever her people are!

Just like us, every pig has their own personality, preferences and comfort level. Some don’t mind getting wet, while others will avoid the rain whenever possible. This is why pigs need access to a dry, weatherproof shelter where they can choose to get out of the elements, even if Peanut rarely uses it! 🐷🌧️

Arlo, Pumba and Chester were very proud of the hole they dug in their pen today 🪏

Rooting is a completely natural and healthy behavior for pigs! It allows them to explore, search for food and interesting smells, exercise their muscles and satisfy their natural instincts. It also provides important mental stimulation and helps prevent boredom.

Unfortunately, we constantly see pigs needing to be rehomed simply because they started rooting up their yards or living spaces. Not every pig will root extensively, but anyone considering bringing home a pig should understand that they can and very likely will dig up the areas where they live.

Pigs should never be discouraged from rooting with nose rings or piercings. These devices are painful and cruel, interfere with a pig’s natural behavior and may not even prevent them from rooting.

We’ll fill in the hole they created here because of its location, but our pigs have another area where they’re given plenty of time and freedom to root, explore and make as much of a mess as their hearts desire!

We’re so excited to invite you to a family-friendly evening of Halloween fun at Clover’s Pig Preserve!

Come dressed in your favorite costume and enjoy creatively decorated trunks, vegan candy and non-food treats, a vegan bake sale, merchandise, and plenty of Halloween fun while supporting the rescued pigs who call Clover’s Pig Preserve home!

We’ll also be holding a costume contest with prizes, so costumes are strongly encouraged. Come dressed in your most creative, funny, or spooky family-friendly costume! 👻

WHAT DOES THE $10 ADMISSION INCLUDE?

🍬 Access to all decorated trunks
🌱 Vegan candy and non-food treats
🐷 A visit with the rescued pigs
🏆 Participation in our costume contest
💚 Support for the rescued pigs in our care

Your admission also helps us cover the costs of safely hosting the event, including parking and event preparations, while raising funds to provide food, shelter, veterinary care, and other necessities for our rescued pigs.

Because this event is being held at a private farm, attendance is limited. Purchasing tickets in advance gives us an accurate head count so we can plan for parking, make sure every trunk has enough candy, and provide a safe experience for our guests and animals.

Every adult and child attending must have their own ticket, even if they will not be collecting candy. Tickets may not be available at the door, and ticket sales will close once we reach capacity.

🚗 WANT TO DECORATE A TRUNK?

We’re looking for people to help make the night extra special by decorating their vehicles and passing out vegan candy!

Registration is free for the registered vehicle owner and one helper. Participating trunks are responsible for bringing vegan, individually wrapped candy or non-food treats to distribute.

Any additional adults or children attending with you will need to purchase regular admission tickets.

All candy and food distributed at the event will be vegan. Please remember that vegan does not necessarily mean allergen-free, so guests with food allergies should check individual labels.

🐷 COURTESY POST: ACORN NEEDS A HOME 🐷

We are sharing on behalf of Woodbridge Regional Animal Control in hopes of helping Acorn find the loving, pig-experienced home she deserves.

Acorn was found roaming after reportedly being abandoned and spending several days alone in the woods. She is approximately 1½–2 years old and weighs around 70–75 pounds. Although she is still a little nervous, she is gentle, learning more every day, knows her routine, and enjoys seeing the other animals.

Acorn is currently safe at the dog pound and is being well cared for by the staff. However, a dog kennel is not where a pig belongs long-term. We would love to see her settled into a proper home before the colder weather arrives.

Her adopter must have appropriate pig experience, be prepared to provide her with a safe and permanent home, and arrange to have her spayed.

We have an exciting update to share! 🙏

We received an incredibly generous donation that put us over our fundraising goal! We have now raised $912 toward our quarantine pen project!

We are so thankful to everyone who stepped up to help when the pigs needed it. Because of your generosity, we’ll be able to make some much-needed improvements to the pen and have it ready to safely welcome our new friend in the coming weeks.

Thank you for always showing up for our pigs and making projects like this possible. We truly couldn’t do it without you! 🐷💚

Today is Chester’s 4th rescue-versary! 🥹🐷

Chester’s transformation is one we are especially proud of. He has lost an estimated 100 pounds since coming to us.

Four years ago, a friend sent us a Facebook post asking if anyone wanted Chester. Otherwise, he would “be sent to the freezer.” He was only one town over, so we went to see him that same day and immediately knew we weren’t leaving without him.

Chester was lying in a muddy pen without a dry place to rest. Flies had badly bitten his ears and caused large sores because he could barely move enough to keep them off him. We didn’t have our trailer or van yet, so we squeezed him into a wire crate, loaded him into the bed of our truck and brought him home. Once we arrived, we used the tractor to safely move him into his new pen because lifting him wasn’t possible.

Chester was the sweetest pig from day one, but his spirit was broken. Some people said we should euthanize him because he struggled to walk, but Chester still had fight left in him. He wanted to live, and we weren’t giving up on him.

With a carefully controlled diet and daily exercise, the weight began to melt away. The pig who once could barely walk now runs around his pen!

Chester now lives with his best friends, Arlo and Pumba. He has very limited vision because the skin folds on his face still cover his eyes, but it doesn’t slow him down. He knows exactly where everything is and is one of the happiest pigs you’ll ever meet.

We’re so thankful we found Chester that day and that he received the second chance he deserved. He truly is the goodest boy, and we hope he enjoys this happy life for many more years.
