Copper needs us! Cooper needs a foster!! This boy is about 16 months old. Good with other dogs but no cats. Good with kids. He is so sweet. He has never known what it's like to live in a home so he will need some patience as learns a whole new world! Both his siblings have adjusted amazing! He will go straight to the vet so he can begin treatment for his parasites. Copper is the last one left from the Sardina crew. He has now been at the dog pound for 3 months. They don't get a lot of foot traffic and he needs to be seen! So please share so we can get this boy into a foster home so he can live his happily ever after!! Application in comments!

🖤🐾 Happy National Black Dog Day! 🐾🖤

While we don't currently have any black dogs at SERF, we couldn't let today go by without showcasing two amazing dogs our friends over at Rescue Me Animal Advocacy have waiting for their forever homes — Doc & Queenie! 🖤

Black dogs are often some of the most overlooked dogs in shelters and rescues. They can be passed by time and time again simply because of their color. Sometimes they're harder to photograph, their personalities don't always shine through in a kennel, and sadly, that can mean they wait longer for someone to notice them.

But here's the thing… black dogs are just as silly, loving, goofy, loyal and deserving as every other dog. They have no idea they're "less adoptable." They just know they're waiting for someone to see them. ❤️

So today, we're asking you to look twice at the black dogs. Don't scroll past them. Don't assume they're still waiting because there's something wrong with them. Stop, read their story, meet them, and give them a chance to show you who they really are.

😂 Things we’ve learned about Yoshi from his temporary foster…

This little dude is basically a tiny, 8.8-pound roommate with A LOT of opinions. 😂

🧦 Yoshi has a sock fe**sh. If a sock is missing, check Yoshi. If it’s not in the laundry basket, there’s a 99% chance he is proudly carrying it around like he just won the Super Bowl. 🏆

🐕 He spends a good portion of his day dreaming about being a BIG DOG and carefully studying his foster brothers’ every move. He’s taking notes, people. He has goals.

😴 He has also mastered the art of the random blanket nap. If Yoshi suddenly disappears and gets suspiciously quiet, you can bet he’s somewhere buried under a blanket, snoozing like he pays rent.

🛋️ Your lap? HIS lap. Your personal space? Also HIS personal space. Basically, if you are within Yoshi’s general vicinity, congratulations—you are now his furniture.

📣 And if you happen to ignore him? Oh, he’ll let you know. This boy doesn’t just bark for attention… he HOWLS. 😂 Apparently he believes every ignored request deserves a dramatic musical performance.

❤️ But underneath all that ridiculousness is a total lover boy. Yoshi turns on the charm the second he meets you and will happily convince you that you absolutely need a tiny sock-stealing, blanket-burrito-making, howling lap dog in your life.

Yoshi is being neutered today and is officially ready to head off to his new foster or forever home! 🏡❤️

A Day of Enrichment!!

We spent the day at The Paw In Hand Project, Inc. filling their dogs and cats’ day with enrichment, fun, and LOTS of love!

If you aren’t familiar with The Paw in Hand Project, Inc, they are a local nonprofit that provides temporary boarding for dogs and cats whose owners are facing situations such as escaping domestic violence, addiction, or a medical crisis.

These people love their animals. Sometimes, they stay in difficult situations longer than they should because they refuse to leave their pets behind. Organizations like this are so incredibly important, and they need our support!

So, how can you help? 🐾

🐶 Volunteer: Stop in and spend some time with the dogs or hang out in the cat room. They LOVE the extra attention! You can also register and take them out on day trips!

🏡 Foster: Many of the animals currently there can be fostered, whether you can give them a few nights out of the kennel or provide a home for their entire stay. These pets are accustomed to living in homes, so being in a kennel environment can be a huge adjustment for them.

💰 Support their fundraisers: Stay tuned for an upcoming fundraiser we’ll be sharing to help support them and the animals in their care!

Today, our crew had a full day of fun! 🎨🐾

They painted canvases that they can give to their parents during visits, tackled an outdoor obstacle course, explored a puzzle room, and received LOTS of extra love and attention. And, of course, the day ended with a special chew from Wild Wolf Bully Sticks! 🦴

We promise they will ALL sleep good tonight! 😂❤️

Buffy girl is living her BEST life! 🥹🐾

This girl went from being stuck in a crate, having multiple litters, and coming to us in pretty rough shape… to getting groomed, rocking her adorable bows, and attending doggy daycare TWICE a week where she plays like a crazy girl! 🤣🎀🐶

Who would have thought?!?!

We are SO incredibly happy that Buffy gets to experience the spoiled lifestyle she always deserved. ❤️

From surviving to thriving—and looking absolutely fabulous while doing it! 🎀✨

Remember June? ❤️

June and her siblings were dumped along the side of a country road in Indiana. Thankfully, it ended up being the best place they could have been left because Krissy jumped into action and took them all in. 🐾

Krissy ended up keeping the only boy, we took June and Peaches, and Fred’s Mission took the last girl. Krissy continued to foster June for us until her family saw her picture and knew she was meant to be theirs. ❤️

And now… look at her! 🥹

June is living the farm girl life and absolutely THRIVING! She has even learned to pick her own berries! 🫐🍓

From being dumped on the side of a road to living the life she always deserved—with a family of her own, plenty of room to run, and berries to pick. 🥰

We couldn’t be happier for you, June girl! You hit the jackpot! ❤️🐾

🚨 TRAMP IS ENTERING THE LMBC & Piper’s Pantry MOST UNGOVERNABLE DOG CONTEST!

And honestly… this boy was BORN for this. 😂

Tramp has never really been told “no” before, and he’s not entirely sure he’s a fan of this new concept.

Open the food bin to scoop his dinner? Yep, you’ll find his head in there before you even turn around. 😂 Food is his JAM, and that nose will sniff it out anywhere!

He’s a tall, lanky boy and counter surfing is absolutely his favorite pastime. He’s also incredibly smart, which means he knows exactly what he’s doing… he just doesn’t always agree that your rules apply to him. 🤣

Tramp was actually cast and picked to be in an ad, but he needed a little more training because this adorable menace can be a bit stubborn. So now he’s away at training, learning all the things he should have learned a long time ago!

And while he may be the very best bad boy, Tramp really is the goodest boy underneath it all. ❤️ He’s smart, funny, loving, and full of personality.

So PLEASE send some votes his way! 🙏 We’d love to see this handsome troublemaker get his face on a shirt at least! 😂

When Tramp finishes training, he’ll be available for adoption!
