Wise Business Association The WBA is a service organization for the business and future of Wise County, Va! All are welcome. Welcome to the WBA!

The purpose of the Wise Business Association is to make our region a better place to live, work and do business! We provide businesses with a better understanding of each other and business opportunities. We are a member-centric organization, where members volunteer their time to plan and host events in our community for networking, marketing and improvement! Meetings are every 3rd Tuesday at 6:00

I've been out in Books & Brew around lunchtime this week. Advertising the sensory space project. Asking students to complete surveys (and take fidgets!). Inviting them to join me for a conversation on Friday, September 4th at 3:00 PM on the Library's 4th floor - their last chance to win a gift card!

I've gotten lots of questions. Here are answers to some of the most common.

1. What is neurodivergent?
Neurodivergent (ND) describes all the ways brains can be different. For the purposes of this project, ND describes those who have sensory needs that aren't considered during building design and construction.

2. What is a multisensory space?
Multisensory, or sensory immersion, spaces are designed to stimulate all the senses. Visitors will find active seating choices, stimulating the vestibular senses while studying. Dancing colorful lights and vibrant décor will entertain the eyes, while a white noise generator quietly soothes the ears in the background.

3. What is sensory recovery/where's the quiet area?
On the 2nd floor, the Sensory Recovery Area will consist of dim, individual seating with darker, solid colors. Visual dividers provide privacy, and dimmable lighting target each seating area. A large divider absorbs and reduces sound from the nearby classrooms. Those who prefer quiet, focused, individual study and anyone overwhelmed will find this area soothing.

4. What's a sensory bag?
Sensory bags will be available for use anywhere in the library, and help provide sensory relief in small ways. Need to keep your hands busy? Fidget objects of all kinds will be within reach. Everything too loud? Noise canceling ear muffs silence the outside. Photosensitive? Sunglasses that fit over regular glasses provide relief.
