NEW FROM PATHWAY LEARNING: THE MISSION OF GOD

What in the world is God doing—and how can you join him?

We’re excited to launch a brand-new six-part Pathway Learning series that will soon become both a new Pathway Learning course and book:

The Mission of God: What in the World Is God Doing—and How Can I Join Him?

This is more than a series of articles.

In Lesson One, you can:
• Listen to Dr. Steve Childers’ recent, live audio presentation
• Read the complete lecture notes with academic footnotes
• Download a free 10-step Learning Path for deeper personal or group study

👉 Explore Lesson One here:

Everyone lives within a story. That story shapes how we understand the world, suffering, success, relationships, work, calling, and the meaning of our lives.

But many of us—even Christians—live within stories that are far too small.

The Bible invites us into a much bigger story: the grand story of God’s mission, unfolding from creation and fall to redemption and the restoration of all things through Jesus Christ.

In Lesson One, discover how the whole Bible reveals God’s mission—and how your own life can become increasingly aligned with what he is doing in the world.

And if you want to go deeper, the free Learning Path includes the full lecture transcript, reflection and discussion questions, a prayer guide, an interactive quiz with answers, hymns for worship, recommended books, and more.

Listen. Read. Reflect. Apply. Go deeper.

What is the ultimate goal of salvation?

Is it simply to have our sins forgiven so that one day we can leave this world and go to heaven? Scripture gives us a much bigger and more beautiful vision.

Sin fractured every dimension of human life—our relationship with God, ourselves, one another, and creation. But God’s saving grace in Jesus Christ does more than forgive our sin. He is restoring what sin has broken and renewing fallen humanity and creation according to his original purposes.

In this Pathway Learning resource, Drs. John Frame and Steve Childers explore the full scope of salvation and what it means for the broken relationships of our everyday lives. You’ll also discover why Christians can have genuine hope in the midst of suffering: things are not the way they are supposed to be—but God is making all things new.

Why is America so deeply divided—and why do elections alone seem unable to heal that division?

In his timely new book, One Nation Divided by God: Our Longing for a Better Country, James Owen Cunningham argues that America’s deepest conflicts are not merely political. They are spiritual, moral, and philosophical.

We continue to use words such as truth, equality, liberty, justice, rights, and human dignity—but we increasingly disagree about what those words mean because we no longer share the beliefs that once gave them coherence.

Cunningham offers more than a diagnosis. He presents a thoughtful and hopeful path forward—one rooted in truth, humility, repentance, love of neighbor, and renewed faith in God.

This concise and accessible book challenges readers across the political spectrum to look beneath our public conflicts to the deeper battle taking place within the human heart.

Redemption is larger than the forgiveness of individual sinners. In Scripture, the Triune God enters history to restore fallen humanity and creation through Christ.

In this video, Drs. John Frame and Steve Childers show why sound theology must follow this unfolding story from creation and fall to redemption and final restoration.

Sound theology must be Trinitarian because God has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Drs. John Frame and Steve Childers explain why the Trinity is not only a doctrine to study, but a biblical perspective for understanding every doctrine.

What is the heart of Christian theology?

It is not merely acquiring more information about God. It is knowing, loving, serving, and honoring God as Lord.

From God’s revelation to Moses as the great “I AM” to the New Testament confession that “Jesus is Lord,” Scripture reveals Christ as the Creator, Redeemer, Restorer, and sovereign ruler of all things.

Sin and Satan brought creation under the curse, but Jesus has triumphed through his death and resurrection. He reigns today, is putting every enemy under his feet, and will one day restore all things.

As Abraham Kuyper famously declared, there is not one square inch of human existence over which Christ does not cry, “Mine!”

The heart of theology is knowing God as Lord. From creation and the fall to Christ’s victory and promised return, Scripture reveals Jesus as the sovereign Redeemer and Restorer of all things. Sound theology calls us to love, serve, and honor him as LORD in every area of life for his glory.

Sound theology must do more than quote Scripture accurately. It must understand each passage within the Bible’s unified story of God’s mission. That story gives doctrine its shape and calls church leaders to align worship, discipleship, witness, and ministry with God’s redemptive purpose.

God didn't give us a book of religious bits. He gave us one story — the story of his mission — running unbroken from Genesis to Revelation. Drs. John Frame and Steve Childers show how that narrative reshapes everything: how we read Scripture, how we do theology, how we lead.
