Why do you work?

For many people, work feels like a necessary burden—a way to pay bills and survive. But the Bible tells a much bigger story.

Work was God's idea before sin entered the world. And through Jesus Christ, God is redeeming and restoring his original purpose for our work. One day, when Christ returns and makes all things new, we will continue serving, creating, leading, and worshiping him in a renewed creation.

Your work matters. Your calling matters. What you do today can bring glory to God and become part of his great mission to renew all things.

God didn't abandon His mission when Adam left the garden. The same work He called Adam to do—multiplying disciples and ruling as His vice-regent over creation—echoes through every generation to you.

Your work is not separate from God's kingdom. It is His kingdom taking shape on earth.

This Memorial Day, I’m paying tribute to my military family, including my uncle, Marine Colonel Lloyd Childers, who survived the Battle of Midway as a wounded tail gunner aboard the USS Yorktown during World War II.

His firsthand testimony includes:
• Watching his squadron devastated in combat
• Fighting Japanese Zero fighters “eyeball to eyeball”
• Surviving after being shot multiple times
• Witnessing the sinking of the USS Yorktown
• Later serving in combat in Korea and Vietnam

His story is not only about war. It is about courage, sacrifice, perseverance, and the cost of freedom.

I’m deeply grateful for the legacy of my grandfather, uncles, father, and all veterans who served our nation.

Freedom is not free.

You weren't made to be a spectator in God's kingdom. Scripture says we've been raised with Christ and seated with him — which means our work, our homes, our neighborhoods are the very domains we're called to rule over as his image bearers. What would change if you led from that identity?

🙏 Please pray for Dr. Peter Stafford.

This American medical missionary with our partners at Serge has been serving the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2023 — and has now tested positive for Ebola after unknowingly operating on an infected patient before the outbreak was identified.

He has been evacuated to Berlin's Charité University Hospital in Germany, where he is receiving specialized care. His own words: "Before I was evacuated I was feeling really concerned I wasn't going to make it. And now I'm cautiously optimistic."

His wife, Dr. Rebekah Stafford, and their four young children have also been evacuated and are being closely monitored.
This is a story of sacrifice, courage, and faith — and a reminder of the incredible cost some pay to bring healing to the world's most vulnerable people.

That longing to make a difference? It's not simply ambition. It's how God designed us.

Every sphere God places under our influence — our families, our work, our communities — is a garden we're called to cultivate.

Lesson 3 of the Faith & Work series unpacks the Genesis mandate that changes how believers see everything.

Celebrating Dr. Yohanes Halim’s graduation from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida with his Doctor of Ministry degree!

Yohanes is a former student of Steve Childers and now serves as a pastor (3,000–3500 members, 70-80% university students), presbytery moderator, and university chaplain helping raise up future church leaders throughout Indonesia—the fourth most populous country in the world.

His partnership with Pathway Learning represents a powerful model of global gospel collaboration for church leader training in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.

We are deeply grateful for Yohanes and Agnes Halim and excited for the future of this growing ministry partnership in Indonesia.

P.S. Read the full blog post to see the photo evidence that RTS security nearly removed Randy Schwartz from the graduation ceremony after discovering he was a Reformed Baptist at a Presbyterian seminary event. Thankfully, he was released on good behavior.

Dr. Yohanes Halim graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary with his Doctor of Ministry degree after years of study and travel from Indonesia to Orlando. A pastor, presbytery moderator, and university chaplain, Yohanes now partners with Pathway Learning to help equip future church leaders across

Most people in our churches think worship only happens on Sunday. But the Bible teaches something much bigger — and your congregation needs to hear it. 🙌

From Genesis 1 to the Apostle Paul, Scripture shows us that every part of life — including our daily work — is meant to bring honor and glory to God. This is called Coram Deo — living all of life before the face of God, under his authority, for his glory.

When your people understand this, it changes how they go to work on Monday morning. It changes how they see their calling. It changes how they live for God every day of the week.

Did you know God was working before he created us to work — and that work existed before sin?

Most Christians have never been taught a biblical theology of work. They go to work with no connection between their faith and their job.

That changes with this lesson.

Lesson 1 of our Faith & Work series gives you the biblical foundation to help your people see their daily work as a calling from God — not just a paycheck.

👇 Read it and start equipping your church for the other 40 hours of the week.

In the beginning, God worked in creation and put humans in paradise to work. So work is not part of the curse but a vital part of God's original mission for humanity to flourish. However, the curse of sin sometimes makes our work painful, frustrating, and feel meaningless. The emphasis of this serie
