🩸🔪 The dead are rising… and the creative team is ready.

We're excited to announce the first artists leading Evil Dead The Musical this October, including our Director, Music Director, and Stage Manager.

If you've never experienced Evil Dead The Musical, imagine horror, comedy, camp, iconic songs, and an unforgettable night of theatrical chaos all wrapped into one wildly entertaining production.

Now all we need is the cast!

We're looking for fearless performers who will take risks, embrace the absurd, and create something audiences will be talking about long after the curtain closes.

⏰ Audition applications close TODAY, June 19.

Additional creative team announcements are still to come, and auditions remain open for performers ready to take the stage.

Big news for Central Florida Vocal Arts!

We’re honored to announce that CFVA has been selected as one of just five organizations to receive a 2026 Seed Grant through the Capacity Building: Central Florida Accelerator Lab, supported by the DeVos Family Foundation.

This grant will help bring Stolen Voices to life. Stolen Voices is a powerful theatrical adaptation of the award-winning film Trapped: In the Trade, created in partnership with Paving The Way Foundation.

Through live performance, storytelling, and audience engagement, Stolen Voices will spark critical conversations about online exploitation and human trafficking — issues impacting young people every day.

The arts have a unique ability to help us process difficult topics. By combining education with performance, we can create meaningful experiences that deepen understanding, encourage dialogue, and empower students with knowledge that can help keep them safe.

To the DeVos Institute and DeVos Family Foundation: thank you for investing in innovation, learning, and the power of the arts to create positive change in our community.

This is more than a performance. It’s a conversation that matters.

One of the things we're most proud of at CFVA is creating opportunities for young artists to grow, not just as performers, but as future arts leaders!

Meet Abby Yuska, our Summer Institute 1 Student Intern.

Abby's journey with CFVA began as a Summer Institute student, where she experienced firsthand the confidence, mentorship, and artistic growth that make this program so special. Since then, Abby has continued to develop her talents through professional opportunities with CFVA, gaining valuable experience both on and off the stage.

Now, she's returning to Summer Institute in a new role: helping support the next generation of young performers as they begin their own artistic journeys.

At CFVA, we believe in building a thriving local arts community by investing in young people and creating pathways from student to artist, mentor, and leader. Abby is a wonderful example of what's possible when talent is nurtured, encouraged, and given room to grow.

We're thrilled to have her on the team this summer and can't wait for our students to learn alongside someone who has walked in their shoes.

Today we're shining a spotlight on our incredible choreographer, Renee Kort. Now in her 5th year with CFVA Summer Institute, Renee brings a wealth of professional performance, choreography, and teaching experience to our students. From dancing professionally aboard Holland America Cruise Line to choreographing award-winning productions for schools and organizations across the country, she has dedicated her career to helping performers grow in confidence, artistry, and stage presence.

Locally, Renee has inspired countless young artists through her work at Lake Highland Prep, where she leads the dance program and helps bring musical theater productions to life. Her passion for teaching and mentorship shines through in every rehearsal.

We're so grateful to have her back for another unforgettable Summer Institute season!
As we continue our week-long intensive for students ages 7–12 (with ages 13–18 joining us next week) we are honored to help students discover who they are, build confidence, and connect with others. Renee embodies our mission, creating an environment where students are challenged, encouraged, and empowered to take their performance skills to the next level!

We’re kicking off Summer Institute week by introducing one of the incredible educators helping shape this year's experience!

Please join us in welcoming McKenzie Ouzts, who is serving as Co-Director for her very first CFVA Summer Institute.
McKenzie brings a unique blend of music education, arts leadership, and community impact to our team. From teaching music in a Title I arts magnet school to creating meaningful arts experiences through education, cultural exchange, and creative placemaking, her work reflects a belief we hold deeply at CFVA: that the arts have the power to connect people, build confidence, and create a more equitable world.

As we begin our week-long intensive for students ages 7–12 (with ages 13–18 joining us next week), we're honored to have educators like McKenzie helping young artists discover their voices, develop their skills, and experience the transformative power of music.

One of our performers, Kenny Nisbett, reflects on his daughter's experience at Summer Institute.
There's still time to join us this summer! The Summer Institute is more than a theater camp, it’s an immersive, interdisciplinary program where young artists can grow in their craft, build confidence, and explore the full spectrum of the performing arts in a nurturing, innovative environment. Enrollment is limited to just 50 students per session to ensure personalized instruction and a high-quality experience for every participant and only a few spots remain.
