The wreath we donated to the Festival of Trees (an event to raise funds for the Orlando Museum of Art) is still accepting bids as of today (Saturday, November 22nd), but bidding ends tomorrow, (Sunday) at 5 p.m. It's called Reindeer Games and is lot #444. ✨ Get to Know Our Scene-Stealing Bass Soloist: Stephen Mumbert! ✨

The critics have spoken! When describing Stephen Mumbert's interpretation of Don Giovanni, The Guardian called him a "Scene-stealer... with a knack for staying in character" and praised his "assured and stylish technique." We couldn't agree more, and we are ecstatic to have him join us once again!

This Orlando-based artist is a dedicated educator (Adjunct Professor at Rollins College and Stetson University) and an acclaimed performer. You may have recently seen or heard him:

- Performing Khan Kontchak with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Steinmetz Hall.

- As the Bass Soloist for the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park's Classic Christmas Concert (aired on PBS!).

- Singing the national anthem at the Daytona International Speedway!

This season is packed for Stephen, featuring roles with Opera Orlando, Trouble in Tahiti with CFVA, and major bass soloist debuts with the Key Chorale (Bach’s B Minor Mass and Handel’s Messiah), plus a local premier of Dan Forrest’s Creation with the Brevard Symphony.

🎉 Introducing Our Tenor: Morgan Mastrangelo!
We're thrilled to welcome the "ringing and clear" tenor, Morgan Mastrangelo, to our stage for the upcoming concert! 🎤

Morgan is an Emerging Artist with Boston Lyric Opera where they recently portrayed Hades in Matt Aucoin's Eurydice, a role they also reprised at Opera Grand Rapids this year.

Recent concert credits include Morgan’s "eye-catching and ear-popping" debut with Boston Baroque as the Narrator in Bach's Coffee Cantata (BWV 211), and their powerful tenor solos in Handel's Messiah (Hudson Valley Philharmonic) and Orff's Carmina Burana at Carnegie Hall.

A recognized talent, Morgan is the 2nd Prize winner of the 2025 Handel Aria Competition and the 2025 American National Oratorio Competition.

With degrees from Northwestern University and New England Conservatory, Morgan's performance is not to be missed!

🌟 Claire McCahan: Mezzo-Soprano Soloist

Claire McCahan is a highly acclaimed mezzo-soprano celebrated for her versatility and compelling, honest performances across Baroque, opera, recital, and contemporary repertoire.

A celebrated musician, she is the winner of the 2025 American National Oratorio Competition and is particularly praised for her interpretations of J.S. Bach.

She is an accomplished recitalist, co-founding Horizon Duo, which made its New York debut at Weill Recital Hall in 2023. Ms. McCahan has performed with major ensembles like the Colorado Bach Ensemble, New England Conservatory Baroque Orchestra, and the Silesian Philharmonic, and has appeared on stage with companies including the Glimmerglass Festival and Opera Saratoga.

A different post from the usual. Yesterday and today, some of the choir members volunteered their time at the 47th Central Florida Scottish Highland Games in Winter Springs. The weather couldn’t have been better and there are so many fun things to experience. Consider volunteering next year!!

Found this and a couple more videos from the December 2010 annual Hallelujah Flash Mob on YouTube. I see several faces who are still singing with MCS!!
Members of Messiah Choral Society will once again be at MCO this Saturday, December 21, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm singing four (4) choruses from Handel’s Messiah to entertain travelers. Looks like the crowds enjoyed the performance by their smiling faces!!
