🌿Whats growing at the H.O.P.E HQ? Swipe to see and read on to learn more!
🌽In the first video you see, we are growing the three sisters- corns, beans, and melons. Over the years, we have been throwing yard waste into a pile to create a compost heap. It’s gotten a bit unruly, so we saw it as the perfect opportunity to use a a mound for the 3 sisters! The corn provides a trellis for the beans and shade for the melon, the beans fix nitrogen for its other sisters, and the melon grow nicely at the bottom of it all.
🍅As for tomatoes, we are growing a few different varieties from Plum Granny Farm, alongside Swiss chard, beets, and spinach. The beets and spinach will need to be harvested, but chard can be harvested throughout the summer!
🥬 We’ve still got tons of kale and a few cabbages that are finally making a head!
🪻We’ve got bee balm potted and placed throughout the garden for pollinators🐝
🫑 It’s hard to see, but we’ve got a gorgeous poblano pepper growing beside chives and lettuce! Other types of peppers include bell peppers and jalapeños.
🥒Finally, we’ve got some gorgeous zucchinis growing and have already harvested a few! They love the heat, as long as they have water, and have taken off quickly.
