We would like to thank 𝗔𝗟𝗟 of the wonderful humans who came from all over the state of North Carolina to support the 16th Annual Discers 4 Whiskers pet food fundraiser presented by the Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Restaurant!! We had a full field of 72 players enjoying the adventurous Black Widow Disc Golf Course and we were blessed again with fantastic weather! Thank you, Robert Grigg, for all of the hard work you put in as the course was simply amazing! For those so inclined, please leave a kind review for the Black Widow on UDisc.
We started the day with breakfast biscuits from Biscuitville as well as some Red Clay Gourmet pimento cheese snack packs and things continued to get even better from that point! After we finished the disc golf round all players enjoyed a delicious lunch from Southern Harvest Catering Company and the 19th Hole at Tanglewood. As a side note – after you play at the new disc golf course that Tanglewood Park & Forsyth County Parks & Recreation made happen at Tanglewood Park be sure to visit the clubhouse and the 19th Hole at Tanglewood and a cold beverage and some tasty food and ask for the Discers-4-Whiskers, discount and get 𝟭𝟵% 𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹 excluding alcohol. NOT to be excluded is Tito's Handmade Vodka - Vodka for Dog People! We greatly appreciate their unwavering and continued support!!
We had a TON of winners in the “Big Whisker” raffle and I have already contacted the winners who were not present. The Lasso Gaucho dinner for Four for the team that brought the most pet food was won once again by the amazing team of What Would Jesus Throw – Cory Combs T& Andrew Taylor – donating 1,000 POUNDS of dog food!! They also each won several “Big Whisker” prizes and we call that ole’ fashioned instant “discma’!! Other than everyone who was at the Black Widow the big prize winner of the day was a longtime Discers-4-Whiskers, donor, Dawn Teem, who won the Full Moon Oyster Bar & Seafood Feast for 6!!! Congratulations Dawn!! We would also like to thank Bangin' Chainz Disc Golf for vending once again and their donations!! Please support and do business with all of our donors!!
We had a pretty even field with 16 teams in Mixed Dubs, 1 Ladies team and 19 teams in Dubs! It was a tight match in Mixed Dubs/Ladies division with second place BUZZ CITY BIRDIES – Simone Gold & Andrew Wiler - shooting a score of 50. Simone dropped her tee shot on top of the basket on #15 for the easy CTP!! Shooting the Mixed Dubs hot round of 49, and winning first place, was the team of Fluff ‘n Folly – Juli Renner & Matt Murray - great shooting y’all!!
In the DUBS division we had a tie for 2nd place with two teams shooting 50 – Talk Birdie to Me (Dave Tackett & Ben Gobble) and Treetards (Jake Adams & Matt Mitchum). They decided on a sudden death playoff and Treetards took the trophies! Winning 1st place in DUBS were the defending champions Team Spiff & Red – S***t Scienski & Alex Ziros - shooting the hot round of the day with a ten under par 47!! GREAT shooting everyone!!
And now time for the numbers for number geeks like me. Yesterday we raised 𝟮,𝟰𝟯𝟬 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 at the event. Animal Resource Friends from Burlington and the Humane Society of Davie County came out to pick up the pet food for their respective pet food pantries. And we raised $𝟱,𝟴𝟳𝟴 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗔𝗦𝗛 from the entry fees, mulligans, Big Whisker and the Full Moon Feast for 6 raffles that we will use to procure more pet food till the 17th Annual Discers 4 Whiskers!
We set a new record for cash per player with $81.63 compared to $66.11 last year and that is a 24% increase year over year!! Thanks to the 1,000 pounds of pet food donated by What Would Jesus Throw we raised an average of 33.75 ppp this year compared to 38 ppp from last year representing a 12% decrease.
𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘓𝘓 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳!! From all of our gracious donors – all of the people who came out to play and everyone who helped make this happen. WE cannot do what we do without all of YOU and Discers-4-Whiskers, Inc. would like to say 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨!!! If you have any suggestions or potential improvements on how we can make this event even bigger next year please let us know! We are going to purchase a raffle ticket tumbling drum and we hope to wear that addition out!!
Yesterday was another great day to disc golf at the Black Widow for the 16th Annual Discers 4 Whiskers! 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟭𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝟰 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀!
