My qualitative dissertation data collection is officially underway. This research study has been reviewed and approved by National University IRB Number: IRB-FY25-26-236

As a PhD Candidate at National University under the direction of Dr. Manisha Sharma (Dissertation Chair), the purpose of my study is to understand teachers’ perspectives towards discriminatory discipline practices of African American males that leads to disproportionate special education placement on the middle school level in a Southeastern United States public school.

You are eligible for this study if you meet all of the following criteria:

1. Licensed middle school teacher
2. Employed in a Southeastern United States public school
3. Have at least three years of classroom experience

After completing the screening questionnaire, participants will be selected to participate in an interview via Microsoft Teams for 30-45 minutes. Selected participants will also be asked to review interview transcripts via email for 10-15 minutes.
