We had a great time this past weekend welcoming our families back with our annual Popsicle Social. Our founder and director Sheri was able to take everyone on a tour of our new basecamps as well as explain what makes our program so special for our LPs and kiddos. We enjoyed popsicles (thank you !) , playing at the splash pad, and participating in our semi-annual gear swap. A couple of friends even found a baby turtle and a toad on our walk into the woods.

We're counting down the days until we see you all for the first day of school!

This summer, our stellar LPs and leadership team got together for a fun day of relaxation and team building with ! It's been an amazing summer but we can't wait to get back in the woods with our kiddos to start the school year. We'll see you soon!

Another day full of wonder at PFS summer camp!
Our campers returned to building their teepee today and added layers of mud and leaves. Building these forts, our campers are engaging in immersive, hands-on play that builds confidence and physical dexterity. They also get a better understanding of gravity and balance. They negotiated roles, communicated ideas and practiced team work. We are excited to see the progress as the week goes on! 🪾
We also enjoyed a mushroom hunt where our kiddos discovered the birds nest fungi, lichen, moss and more! 🪺

Week 4 of PFS summer camp 🌧️
The campers had a great time exploring and playing in the rain today as it served in open-ended, natural play materials.
Slippery surfaces challenged our kiddos with balance and awareness.
Mud became the main ingredient in their earthy meals.
And, we observed damp-loving creatures like worms, ants, grasshoppers, skinks and fungi. 🦗 🐜 🦎 🍄‍🟫
The campers are excited to return tomorrow to continue building their forts and playing with their new friends!

Week 2 of summer camp at Little Creek! 🌲
This week has been full of adventures and we are welcomed by the woods in our new location. Our summer campers have built dens, mazes and calming trees.
They have enjoyed sit spots where they noticed cicadas, birds chirping, trees, the breeze and have journaled their observations in their nature books.
We also spotted bones at the creek, a praying mantis, click beetle, worm snake, praying mantis, inch worm, dragon fly and spiders! We discovered persimmon on the ground and are on the hunt to find the tree!
