Air Discipline (BB, Air Pistol, Air Rifle) Season Closed, next practice Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025
At the Winfield Fairgrounds.

Archery practices, New Season. Thursday, Oct. 2nd 6:30 pm at the meadow.

Shotgun practice, New Season, 3rd Sunday, Oct. 19th, 2:00 at the meadow - weather allowing.**Must! email for a relay time for member to be on the practice line.

Muzzleloader/Small Bore - Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. at the meadow, tell state mach.

Hunting Skills - Watch for emails after Labor Day.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came by to support the shooting sports fair booth this year!

We always enjoy catching up with old friends of the program and meeting new families interested in knowing more about what the program provides here in Cowley County 4-H!

Congrats to our club members who received a champion purple on their club promotional poster this year..."Be the Spark"! The muzzleloader project members did an awesome job answering the judges questions about what they do on the range and how they share with others their passion for the project!

Cowley's 'Top Angler' in the Sportfishing Slam goes to Trace this year...thank you to Mr. Hoover for interviewing the members about their summertime catches! Look forward to hearing more 'fish tales' at next year's fair booth!

SPORTFISHING SLAM THIS SATURDAY!

YOU BRING AT LEAST ONE PHOTO OF COWLEY YOUTH WITH YOUR BEST WITNESSED 'CATCH' OF THE SEASON....
AND SOME COWLEY YOUTH WILL GET PICKED 'ANGLER OF THE YEAR' HERE IN COWLEY AND TAKE HOME SOME FISHING GEAR!
FIRST FIVE ENTRIES WILL RECEIVE A KWPD 'KANSAS' HAT!

We are using the Cowley Sportfishing Slam to encourage youth to take up sportfishing; youth need to have at least 1 photo but up to 4 photos and bring it to the booth this Saturday between 12:00pm and 5:00pm, for the judging at 6:00pm and prizes...this is open to all youth in the community - need not be enrolled in 4-H sportfishing to enter but enrollment is encouraged.

Sportfishing Slam will be held for youth who want to showcase their summer angler catches!

A "Slam" is defined as an individual participant catching 4 different species or subspecies of fish OR visiting 4 different hatcheries or rearing stations. Example: an angler catches a perch, a bluegill, a bass and a catfish and completes the requirements for the slam.
Requirements:
- All four species or subspecies of fish do not have to be caught in the same year - any regulated fishing gear may be used - pole, bowfishing, etc. The completion of the sportfishing slam can be accomplished
anytime throughout the year and over multiple years if needed.
- Youth and 4-H Members must complete the verification sheet with the appropriate signatures and photos to document completion. Enrollment in the sportfishing project is encouraged but not mandatory to enter.
- Participants must submit a photo of them with each of the four species or subspecies of fish or at the hatchery or rearing station.
-All entries must contain a witnessing adult signature.
-Verification sheets with photos need to be brought to the Cowley County 4-H Shooting Sports Club fair booth between Noon and 5:00pm on Saturday, Aug. 2nd or emailed to [email protected].

First 5 entries will receive a KWPD hat. "Top Angler" entry will receive recognition at the fair booth at 6:00pm, Saturday, Aug. 2nd.
