NASA's Artemis II rocket has made it to the launch pad! 🚀

After a nearly 12-hour journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft arrived at Launch Pad 39B at 6:42 p.m. EST on Saturday, Jan. 17. In the coming days, engineers and technicians will prepare the NASA Artemis II rocket for the wet dress rehearsal, a test of fueling operations and countdown procedures.

Great day yesterday! Like Apollo 13, the 5th flight of the Big Daddy was a “successful failure”. The photos thanks to George Barnes IV tell the story pretty well but not all three motors on the pad went simultaneously causing the rocket to severely arc to the south. However, the two air start H motors did not fire as the tilt protection on the Missile Works Corporation PET2+ did its job and the RRC2 minis did their job! I guess I’ll have to learn my lesson not to cluster redline motors again as Dale Netherton and I learned already so many years ago lol. Big Daddy was recovered unharmed and will fly again very soon, maybe next time with an AeroTech K1999 in the middle!

Carl held his own with a couple back to back perfect flights of the Banana and Punisher Sport. The Colorado State University SLI team persevered and had a great sub scale flight on an AeroTech K1103X. And…. 20 year old AMW Green Gorilla propellant as Andrew Bissonnette pointed out earlier is hard to light! For those that were there, you know I put in a pretty solid effort though! Always carry a backup motor just in case, Pink Lady made a perfect flight on a CTI J335 Red.
