MIRACLE MAKERS

MIRACLE MAKERS MIRACLE MAKERS is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit org that supports preemies & their families. When mother Mumtaz left the hospital, Maya stayed behind.

Maya Tharoo was prematurely born at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies, one of the hospitals that forms the Arnold Palmer Medical Center at Orlando Regional Medical Center. She spent the first months of her life in the Alexander Center for Neonatology/Intensive Care Unit. She weighed ounces at birth, just barely making it over 1 pound. When she was finally able to leave, Maya was still

so tiny that she was able to wear doll’s clothes, clothes that she now carries to the hospital with her to show parents how tiny she was and to give them hope that their premature babies will grow to become as strong and healthy as she is now.. She is but one of the Miracle Children of the Arnold Palmer Medical Center. Maya has been visiting the Neo-natal ICU ever since she became old enough to do so. Her visits are always a welcome event. They are an inspiration and a provider of faith and optimism to the parents of infants in the care of that incredible unit. In the company of her parents or with the staff, and often with Dr. Alexander himself, she tours the units, visiting with the infants, the parents, family members and nurses. She is not seeking publicity for herself – she is merely helping in her own way – Giving back to the unit what they helped her to achieve … A Healthy and Happy Life.

Happy New Year everyone! We wanted to ring in the new year by sharing how we ended the last one—with our annual Holiday Luncheon at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. We were able to provide over 150 toys to families in the NICU, as well as lunch for NICU staff and families. A huge thank you to the amazing folks at Orlando Health Foundation for helping make this event happen.

The most rewarding part of this tradition is speaking with families in the NICU about their journey with their preemie. Witnessing the strength of these families and being able to provide them with hope and reassurance during such a challenging time reminds me why we do this year after year.

We want to give a heartfelt thank you to Maggiano's for providing the delicious food for the luncheon. As always, it was a hit! Your support means the world to all of us.

Thank you to the members from 100 Women Strong at Central Florida Foundation for coming and learning more about this cause. It is inspiring to see your leadership and impact in Central Florida, and we appreciate your support.

All of us at Miracle Makers wish you all a blessed, happy, and healthy new year!
