Run Home Camps

Run Home Camps Run Home Camps brings hope, healing and honor to 9-12 yr old boys who have experienced relational trauma.

There is a forgotten group of children, right here in our country. They are known as "foster kids", many of whom have experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment in their lives. Run Home Camps gives these boys an opportunity to experience acceptance, a loving family environment, and friendships like never before. Each well trained, dedicated volunteer Coach will be responsible for no more than two c

hildren. Throughout the week, the volunteers will celebrate the GOOD in these kids, a new experience for many of our campers.

We are so thankful! The pictures show that the storms truly were all around us! Those who braved the area rains to attend our third annual Field of Creams got to enjoy some delicious ice cream, tons of fun, and yet another weather miracle at RHC! Though there was rain to our northwest and southeast, the show went on! Thanks everyone for coming out and celebrating a great summer of RHC with us! Thanks to Allied Milk Producers and Flood City Party Rentals for your tremendous generosity!

It all came together in Wisconsin! The first 4 days of camp included many disagreements and struggles among the boys but they united for a great game day! The difficulties during the week made the final day that much more special. There were so many smiles and so much fun and laughter and also so many tears as the memorable week came to an end. We are so proud of these boys and how much growth we saw in just a few days. We are also so grateful for the staff who were willing to navigate the challenges and remain committed to loving and caring for the boys the entire week. Great work Journey Church !!

There’s nothing like experiencing a baseball game for the first time with our kids! Everyone had a blast at the Milwaukee Milkmen game last night! We are so grateful to the Milkmen and for the memories!

Despite the many difficulties the boys in Wisconsin have experienced in life, they can still get out on the baseball field and have fun! Today is team day and the red and blue teams were so excited to get their uniforms and become part of a team ! We are so proud of this first time volunteer staff !

Reflections on an amazing week: After the big game the boys sat in the seats reserved for fans less than an hour before. It seemed as if they were holding onto every last minute together. What kind of thoughts rolled through their minds? Maybe they were thinking about the All Star Game they just played, the friends they made at camp, or the many other memories from a great week. Saying goodbye is always a little sad when it’s been one of the best weeks of the summer, if not their lives! We join the campers in looking forward to next year for another Run Home Camp at our original Pennsylvania site!

What an absolutely perfect day at PA camp yesterday! Neither the campers nor the coaches wanted it to end. Even though it was only day 3 of 5, the campers were already brought to tears thinking about the fact that the 12 year-olds would not be able to come back next summer. The friendships being formed are deep and meaningful. The volunteers who planned to be with us for just a portion of the day ended up staying with us late into the night. It’s hard to truly explain how special the RHC environment is to everyone involved!

The 3rd and final camp week of the summer at our original Pennsylvania site got underway today. The same camper who was absolutely shocked that he got to eat THREE meals in the same day at camp also told us at the end of today that it was the “most fun day” of his entire life.
