A 2018 study found that 36% of adults experiencing homelessness first faced it at age 18 or younger. This highlights why eviction prevention efforts are so critical. When families receive support before losing stable housing, children are far less likely to experience the trauma and long-term instability associated with homelessness. Intervening early doesn’t just address an immediate crisis, it helps break a cycle that can continue into adulthood. By keeping families housed and supported, our eviction prevention programs play a key role in creating more stable futures and reducing the risk of homelessness later in life.
