With two elections coming up in May, advocates say gaps in support services can make voting a time-consuming challenge for many people with disabilities, despite legal protections guaranteeing access.

Your Runoff Vote Is Worth 27 Midterm Votes

In the 2022 Texas primary runoff (the last mid-term election), roughly 7% of registered voters decided the runoff outcome. That’s an over 50% drop-off from the primary. Every vote cast on May 26 carries the electoral weight of approximately 27 midterm votes. This year, those votes will determine the outcome of 38 races including: U.S. Senate, Attorney General, Lieutenant Governor, and dozens of legislative seats. Also Railroad Commissioner (which has NOTHING to do with railroads but regulates the oil and gas industry, including safety and clean-up) a judge on the Court of Appeals, and county races. The winners will make decisions on property taxes, school funding, healthcare, and energy costs that affect every Texan.
May Matters to Your Future.

Worth knowing.

Every eligible Texan deserves to make their voice heard without fear, intimidation, or confusion at the polls.

Yesterday in San Antonio, reports and videos showing ICE agents present near an early voting location caused fear and confusion among voters during the Texas primary runoff election. Local officials later stated the incident stemmed from a DPS stop and was not related to voting, but the presence of immigration agents near a polling site still raised serious concerns about voter intimidation and the chilling effect these actions can have on communities.

If you experience any issues while voting, call 866-OUR-VOTE (español: 888-VE-Y-VOTA) for nonpartisan voter assistance and know your rights before you cast your ballot.
