GCPSA - Gulf Coast Post-Doc and Student Association Our association started in 2017 by the students and post-docs at GCREC-UF. In 2018 it was officially named as GCPSA.

We have the objective to enhance the communication and networking between graduate students, post-docs, and faculty in Ag related fields.

We were pleased to welcome Peter McDonald, CEO of Ecospray, for a recent GCPSA professional development workshop.

With experience across organizations including Agrovista UK, AF Group, and Syngenta, Peter shared insights on building a career in agriculture—from technical roles to executive leadership.

At Ecospray, he leads the development and commercialization of biologically derived crop protection solutions, including a garlic-based bio-nematicide. The company has established operations across Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, and is now expanding into the U.S. market.

His visit provided students with valuable perspective on agricultural innovation and the process of bringing new technologies to growers.

Big thanks to Corteva Agriscience and Enza Zaden for hosting our interns, students and postdocs for an awesome field tour!
We had a great time, learned a lot, and got a behind-the-scenes look at how innovation happens, from crop protection product development to plant breeding and variety development. It was also super helpful hearing about how industry trials differ from academic work and getting career tips from the teams.
