Skylar's Love Mission

Skylar's Love Mission Virginia 501(c)(3) nonprofit ministry. Honoring Skylar’s life with faith, hope & love since 2016. Walking alongside families after pregnancy & infant loss.

Compassionate Bereavement Care® Provider | Star Legacy Peer Companion | Certified Grief Educator Welcome to Skylar’s Love Mission. We honor Skylar's life with faith, hope and love by providing compassionate support to grieving families. We are certified as a Compassionate Bereavement Care® Provider by Dr. Joanne Cacciatore with the MISS Foundation. Skylar came into our arms silently at 40 weeks ge

station in 2016; an umbilical cord entanglement causing her stillbirth. We share our journey of faith after loss to uplift others with hope and joy in the midst of life’s storms. And we share our love for our precious daughter Skylar and the joy her little brother Dakota brings to our life through acts of kindness. Skylar’s Love Mission’s largest effort involves donating comfort care bags and Skylar’s comfort bears to hospitals and first responders in Virginia. And raising funds to donate CuddleCots to hospitals which do not yet have one. We hope you’ll follow this page, find hope and inspiration in our efforts, and share how Skylar’s life has touched yours. You are loved!

💙 National Food Bank Day — September 4 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the food banks, food pantries, volunteers, and generous hearts who help make sure families in our communities have access to the food and resources they need.🍽️

This October, six local food pantries will be receiving our Birthday Blessing Kits to share with children and families in their communities. Each kit is a simple reminder that even in difficult seasons, every child deserves to be celebrated. 🎂

Our Birthday Blessing Kit Supply Drive is still underway, and we’re so thankful for everyone who has helped us collect the items needed to make these special kits possible.✨

A pantry can provide the food a family needs, and we’re honored to help provide a little joy to go with it. 🥰

Happy National Food Bank Day!

Thank you for helping us serve our community with love — from our family to yours. ❤️

A little peek at the Birthday Blessing Kit donations that have come in this week! 🎉

These donations came from PATCH Virginia, donations dropped off at Northwest Ace Hardware in Blackstone, and some items purchased with monetary donations.❤️

We’re so grateful for everyone who is helping us make these birthday kits possible! We know there are more donations still on the way, and we can’t wait to see what comes in next.🥰

Keep the donations coming! Every bit of support helps us create more Birthday Blessing Kits for local food pantries for children and families they serve.🎂

Thank you for being part of this mission!🧸

💌148 Teddy Grams 💌

There are 88 Teddy Grams in honor of my mom’s 88th birthday last month. 50 are in honor of my 50th birthday, also celebrated in August. And 10 are in honor of Skylar’s 10th birthday in Heaven this October.

88 +50 + 10 = 148. ❤️

Each little teddy bear has been given a sweet bow around its neck and a handwritten message on the back:

You are loved.
You are remembered.
You are not alone. ❤️
Blessings from Skylar’s Love Mission.

I had hoped to gather our community together for a volunteer opportunity to help write these messages, but sometimes life simply doesn’t leave the bandwidth we wish we had. So, this time, I sat down and wrote every single one myself. ✍️

And now these 148 little Teddy Grams are ready to make their journey!

They’ll be going in the mail tomorrow to A Touch of Teddy, where they’ll become a small part of their Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month effort—bringing a little extra love and encouragement to grieving parents.

It may be just a small paper teddy bear, but I hope each one carries a big reminder:

You are loved. You are remembered. You are not alone. 🧸❤️🫶

They may not be here to celebrate their birthdays with us, but they will always be remembered!❤️

We are truly honored to create Birthday Blessing Kits in memory of these precious little ones.🥰

Each kit sponsored in memory of a baby gone too soon will be personalized with the baby’s name and something special in their honor—a beautiful way to remember their precious life while helping make another child’s birthday a little brighter.✨

To the families who have chosen to sponsor a kit in memory of your beloved baby, thank you. 🫶

Thank you for supporting an effort that is so meaningful to our family, for helping us uplift children in our community, and for allowing us the privilege of carrying the memory of your precious baby forward through this act of kindness. ❤️

A Birthday Blessing Kit is $17, which covers the cost of the supplies. If you’d like to sponsor one in memory of a baby you love, we would be honored to personalize a kit in their memory. We’ll share a photo of the personalization as we prepare the kits for our food pantries.🎈

🎂❤️ BIRTHDAY BLESSING KIT SUPPLY DRIVE — WEEK 2 UPDATE! ❤️🎂

We have another reason to celebrate! 🎉

Our Birthday Blessing Kit Supply Drive has reached 33 kits! 🙌 We’re now more than halfway to our goal of creating at least 60 Birthday Blessing Kits—10 for each of the six food pantries we’re partnering with this October.

A huge thank you to the Grace United Methodist Church congregation, and to the patrons of Two Sisters Thrift Store and Dogged State Diner, for the donations received this week! ❤️ Check out everything our community helped provide in the first photo. 🥳

And we’ve officially checked a few more items off our list:

🎉 60 Birthday Cards — COMPLETE! ✅
🎉 60 Cans of Sprite — COMPLETE! ✅
🎉 60 Packages of Forks — COMPLETE! ✅
🎉 60 Cake Pans — COMPLETE! ✅

Here’s how our 33 committed kits are coming together:

❤️ 14 kits — sponsored in memory of precious babies
❤️ 10 kits — committed by our family in memory of Skylar
❤️ 9 kits — covered through items and monetary donations received so far

33 down… 27 to go! 🎂🎉

✨ Now that we’re over halfway there, we want to focus our efforts on the specific items still needed to complete our minimum goal of 60 kits. Swipe through the photos to see our updated shopping list and the quantities still needed for each item. Every donation brings us one step closer! ❤️

🍽️ Don’t forget! Make plans for lunch or dinner at Joes Steak & Seafood this Tuesday, September 1st, for our Dine Out Fundraiser. We hope to see you there! ❤️

We’ll continue checking our community donation boxes each week, and we’re so grateful for everyone who has donated, sponsored a kit, shared our posts, or helped spread the word.

Thank you for helping us bring a little birthday joy to children and families in our community. 🎂❤️

Today is National Grief Awareness Day and International Bereaved Father’s Day. Sending love to all the Dad’s whose love spans Heaven and Earth. Our heart goes out to you.
~
“A Father’s love cannot be measured solely by the footsteps that echo through the halls of his home, but also by those that will echo forever in his heart and walk unheard beside him every day.”🫶

To Tracy Armes ~ Skylar’s Father, my Husband, my Love on Bereaved Father’s Day.

When our world was shattered with the words no parent expects to hear, you pleaded with our doctor to save our daughter and held yourself together for me. You took on the burden of making heartbreaking phone calls to family and friends and then stood by my side as our beautiful daughter came silently into this world. Though in anguish of our unexpected reality, you were still a proud Father. You looked with such love as you held our daughter in your arms, in awe of how perfect she was though she was gone. You lovingly helped us capture memories with our daughter while also supporting family and friends who came to the hospital. As I struggled to say goodbye, you helped me know when the time was right. You cried with me as we drove home with an empty car seat to a beautifully decorated nursery our daughter would never use.

You found a little white casket for our precious baby girl and planned a touching funeral. You helped us select special items to bury with her and held me as we saw her casket for the first time at the funeral home. You got me through her graveside service and gently picked me up when I collapsed over her casket. There are so many memories of your loving embrace that meant so much to me.

You cared for my every physical need as I recovered from a cesarean, from helping me in the bathroom in tears, to making sure I took my medications as prescribed, to taking me to SO many doctors appointments. You took me for a ride when I couldn’t bear the quiet of the house any longer and stayed home with me as long as you could.

You encouraged me as I angrily questioned God and if we would ever have the child we longed for. You supported my need to connect with others who had experienced the same heartache as us. You simply held me and let me cry when that’s all I needed, too.

So wrapped up in my own grief at the time, it wasn’t until I returned to work that I understood how hard it must have been to go to work each day and put on a normal face, have normal conversations, do normal things and then come home to your mess of a wife and our broken world. I don’t know how you did it. I look back on pictures from that dark time, I see the unspoken sadness in your face.

With God’s grace, love and hope, we’ve survived nearly 6 years. Something I’m incredibly grateful for, as I know not every couple comes through such tragedy together.

Throughout these years, I love how you’ve included our daughter in all of my greeting cards and gifts. And how you cherish her little brother spending time with his big sisters and our grandkids and wonder what she would be doing now. Knowing you look for little signs with thoughts of her bring incredible joy to my heart, too.

I love how you support our acts of kindness in Skylar’s memory. From ribbon tyer, paper cutter, proof reader, vehicle loader, delivery chauffeur, bargain hunter, thought partner, prayer partner, - there truly are way too many ways to list. And as Skylar’s Love Mission grows, creating a legacy of service and compassion our family can be proud of, I am so grateful for such a supportive husband and father who demonstrates incredible love. Love for ALL your children, Skylar included, just as God loves us!

Thank you for carrying me when I was most broken and the Godly love you always show your family. On International Bereaved Father’s Day and everyday, I see you and I love you ‘more.’ 😉❤️

🤍 National Grief Awareness Day 🤍

Today is a day to pause and remember something that is easy for the world to forget:

Grief doesn’t have an expiration date.

Grief isn’t something we simply “get over.” It isn’t linear, and it doesn’t follow a calendar.

Sometimes grief looks like tears.
Sometimes it looks like laughter while remembering someone we love.
Sometimes it looks like forgetting details.
Sometimes it looks like staying busy because slowing down hurts too much.
Sometimes it looks like being okay for a while… and then suddenly not being okay at all.

And sometimes, grief is completely invisible.

An empty chair at a table.
A name they still wish they could call.
A birthday they can no longer celebrate the way they dreamed.
A baby they never got to bring home.
A milestone they don’t get to experience.
A parent, spouse, child, sibling, or friend whose absence still hurts.

And there are people who are grieving a loss that others may not even realize happened, as well as secondary losses no one considers.

So today, if you are grieving, please know this:

You don’t have to apologize for how you feel.
You don’t have to be “better” because time has passed.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay just to make someone else comfortable.

Your love is real.
Your loss is real.
Your grief is valid.

And if you love someone who is grieving, you don’t have to find the perfect words. You don’t have to fix their pain.

Just remember them.
Say their loved one’s name.
Check in—not just today, but months and years from now.
Sit beside them in the hard moments.
And don’t be afraid of their tears.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can give someone who is grieving is simply letting them know:

“You don’t have to walk through this alone.”🫶

Today and every day, may we give grief the time and space it deserves, and offer those who are grieving more love, more compassion, and a whole lot more understanding.❤️

If you’re carrying grief today, we are sending you so much love.🫶

🎂❤️10 Birthday Blessing Kits are Complete❤️🎂

Last night, our family gathered around the table to turn 10 memorial sponsorships into something tangible—a Birthday Blessing Kit for a child in our community.

We started with bags of supplies… then organized each item into its own cake pan, added the special touches, personalized each kit, and finally wrapped them up with a beautiful birthday bow.🎉

We invite you to swipe through the photos and watch these 10 Birthday Blessing Kits come together in memory of precious babies who are deeply loved and remembered. They will soon make their way to families through our local food pantry partners, bringing a little birthday joy to children.

If seeing these finished kits inspires you to help us create more, please consider donating an item from our supply list, shopping from our Amazon wishlist, sponsoring a kit, or simply sharing our Birthday Blessing Kit Supply Drive.

One precious baby remembered.
One child celebrated.
One act of love carried forward—in honor of Skylar.

Thank you for helping us carry Skylar’s love into our community and make birthdays a little brighter this October.🙏❤️🥰
