Welcome to Skylar’s Love Mission ❤️

We’ve been grateful to welcome many new followers to our page, and we wanted to take a moment to introduce ourselves.

Skylar’s Love Mission is a family-operated nonprofit serving communities across Virginia. Founded in memory of our daughter, Skylar, our mission is rooted in compassion, faith, and the belief that no family should walk through life’s difficult moments alone.

Through comfort care gift bags, nourishing meals, Skylar’s Comfort Bears, handmade comfort and bereavement items, community events, and acts of kindness, we strive to bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to families and communities in moments of need.

We recently updated our services to better reflect the heart of what we do and created this flyer as a simple overview of our mission and outreach.

Thank you for being here, for supporting our work, and for helping us create a ripple effect of love across Virginia.

Today, as we recognize Juneteenth and reflect on the importance of continued progress toward equity in maternal health, we are honored to include Count the Kicks information in our comfort care gift bags for expecting mothers. Every family deserves support, education, and hope for a healthy pregnancy and birth. ❤️

Juneteenth is a powerful celebration of freedom and is also an important reminder of the work that needs to be done to ensure change for all, especially in maternal health. We believe that every expectant parent deserves the right to a safe pregnancy and a healthy birth.

This Juneteenth, we stand firm in our belief that poor birth outcomes can be preventable and recommit to our goal to make meaningful, sustainable, and systemic change that leads to a world where the impacts of age, ability, access to healthcare, ethnicity, geography, race, or socioeconomic status are no longer predictors of stillbirth.

Today, we had the honor of attending the SOVA Southern Virginia Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Maria's at Old Town 21 Ristorante Italiano.

We are grateful for the warm welcome and the opportunity to connect with so many local businesses, corporations, and fellow nonprofit organizations who are investing in and strengthening our communities across Southern Virginia.

As a small, family-led nonprofit, opportunities like this remind us that meaningful impact happens through connection, collaboration, and a shared heart for serving others. We enjoyed learning more about the incredible work happening throughout our region and look forward to building new relationships and opportunities to serve together.

Thank you to the Southern Virginia Chamber of Commerce for hosting such a welcoming and engaging event.

We’d also like to thank Maria’s Italian Restaurant for hosting today’s luncheon. The family style meal was wonderful, and it was such a treat to visit for the first time. We look forward to coming back again and supporting another great local business with our family.

A special June memory from 2023 when we donated nearly 70 gift bags for a veteran baby shower at the Richmond VA Medical Center.🇺🇸

A HUGE THANK YOU to Skylar's Love Mission for the exceptional 68 gift bags full of wonderful items for the new veteran mothers! Shannon, Tracy and Dakota have been especially busy collecting, bagging and decorating these lovely gift baskets. We have collected so many baby items from our dedicated members and partners. Special projects such as this always brings out the love of our "special" members who cannot resist a worthwhile project. Thanks to everyone who participated for the 68 female vets at the Richmond VA Medical Center who are expecting. This is going to be a huge baby shower!

Today, we had the privilege of delivering a comfort care bag and blue crocheted comfort hearts to support an Alberta family as they said goodbye to their precious son at Clarke Funeral Home.

Please join us in praying for the Merkle family as they honor and remember their baby boy, Apollo.

Born at just 23 weeks in May 2025, Apollo spent his first year courageously fighting in the NICU. After finally bringing their sweet boy home, his family is now coping with the heartbreaking loss of saying goodbye far too soon.

We pray Apollo’s family finds comfort in knowing he is now healthy and whole, wrapped in the arms of Jesus.

And we hope our comfort hearts serve as a gentle reminder of their never-ending bond — a love they will carry in their hearts until they hold their precious boy again in Heaven.

Sweet Apollo, you are loved and will always be remembered.

Today, we had the privilege of delivering a comfort care gift bag and a meal to the Morgan family in Farmville in memory of their precious daughter, Hazleigh Lynn.

Hazleigh arrived far too soon in May at only 18 weeks gestation, yet she was deeply loved and fought so bravely in the time she was here. Her family misses her tremendously.

Our comfort care bag included thoughtful gifts and resources chosen to offer comfort, support, and ways to honor and remember sweet Hazleigh. We also included a few special gifts for her big brother, Owen, as we know loss touches the whole family.

We are so grateful the Morgan family welcomed us into their home and allowed us to walk alongside them, even in a small way, during such a heartbreaking season. It is a privilege we never take lightly.

Hazleigh Lynn will always hold a special place in our hearts. 🐝 We will continue holding this family close in prayer and remembering their precious daughter.

A heartfelt thank you to a generous donor who recently restocked our supply of personalized ear tags for Skylar’s Comfort Bears. 🧸🩷

We had completely run out of these special tags, and their restock means so much to our mission.

Each tag is attached to a Comfort Bear that is donated to hospitals and first responders for children in their care, and carries the name of a baby or loved one in whose memory the bear is given. These small tags become a meaningful way to honor a life, ensure their name is spoken, and remind families that their child is remembered.

What makes this gift even more special is that it was given in loving memory of the donor’s mother, Kathy Coffee — a beautiful act of remembrance creating comfort and connection for others.

Thank you for helping us share love and honor precious lives, reminding us that each life continues to touch others in meaningful ways.

A special thank you to one of our incredible volunteers for recently restocking our supply of crocheted comfort hearts.🩷🤍💙

Each tiny heart is handmade with love and represents so much more than yarn and stitches — they become meaningful keepsakes shared with families during some of their most tender moments. One stays with their child, and others are distributed to loved ones — a tangible reminder of their continued bond and a life always remembered with love.

Our volunteer also lovingly customizes colors when special requests arise to meet the unique needs of each family we serve. Even this week, special little hearts are being handmade to bring comfort and connection to a family walking an unimaginable loss.

Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and heart with this mission. Your kindness reaches farther than you know, and we are so grateful.
