THE BETTER TOGETHER GRANT APPLICATION IS NOW OPEN!

Some of the most meaningful impact happens when people gather in person, at a health fair, a 5K race, a resource day, or a community celebration. The Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) is offering a grant to help cover the costs of hosting these events, including food, materials, rentals, and signage.

Grant eligibility requirements:
- Event must connect to one of our four focus areas: Substance Abuse, Healthy Living, Access to Healthcare, or Mental Health

- Funding must directly support community outreach

Application closes September 18.

Questions can be directed to Kellie Bennett, Grants Manager, at [email protected].

We encourage community partners to apply and look forward to seeing the events this grant will help bring to life.

Welcome Back, Barton Students! 🎉

Last week, two members of the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) team joined Welcome Back Barton Day, where local businesses come together to welcome students back with information, resources, and goodies on their first day of class.

We passed out HFW swag and shared details on our Summer Internship Program, Interns for Impact. If you're a Barton student looking to gain real-world experience while making a difference in Wilson County, keep an eye out, applications are coming soon!

New school year, new supplies! 🎒

Last week, the Healthcare Foundation of Wilson (HFW) hosted a back-to-school event at the Ripe for Revival Mobile Market, helping get 50 students ready for the new school year with essentials like pens, pencils, notebooks, crayons, and markers.

Thank you to WASH Dental, Ignite Church, Dress for Success, ECU Health, and AmeriHealth for participating and providing additional services to our community. None of this happens without partners who show up to make it possible. Thank you for helping us set students up for success on day one!

Our next Ripe for Revival Mobile Market is Tuesday, September 8. We hope to see you there!

🌟 Intern Spotlight: Braylie Phillips

Meet Braylie Phillips, one of this year's Interns for Impact! Braylie completed her internship with Area L Area Health Education Center (Area L AHEC), where she spent the summer immersed in research and exploring public health topics she'd never encountered before.

"Diving into the Center's CPD Evaluations was the highlight of my internship. The research pushed me into topics I'd never encountered before, and genomics quickly became my favorite."

Thank you, Braylie, for your hard work this summer!

🎉 Congratulations to Wilson County Emergency Medical Services , a 2025 Responsive Grant recipient, on receiving an Excellence in Innovation Award at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners' (NCACC) 119th Annual Conference!

This honor recognizes their Trauma Survivability Initiative, which equipped EMS vehicles with whole blood for transfusions, a lifesaving measure that gives patients a critical advantage in the moments before they reach the hospital. We are grateful to have played a part in helping this program come to life, and we could not be prouder of this well-deserved recognition.

Congratulations to the entire team!
