Please take a minute of your time to send in comments to the EPA, our wetlands are one of the most important habitats. Thank you!
Public commenting for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyโs proposed changes to the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) is now OPEN. As a reminder, this proposed rule would further strip already-weakened federal Clean Water Act protections from as much as ๐ด๐ฌ% ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐๐ฒ๐๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ AND ๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ป ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ๐ across the country.
Our streams feed their waters (and the pollutants those waters may contain) into rivers like the Cape Fear, and thus our drinking water. Our wetlands are natural sponges that filter carbon, act as nurseries and habitat for wildlife, mitigate flooding, and help keep our drinking water clean. Stripping federal protections from these waters not only puts them at risk of development and destruction, ๐ช๐ต ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ต๐ด ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ถ๐ด ๐ข๐ต ๐ณ๐ช๐ด๐ฌ. These waters protect us, and this is the time for us to return the favor, for the EPA to return the favor.
