Councilman Johnson has introduced an ordinance to enable police to move individuals along when sitting or standing within 50 feet of homes or businesses. They will also be able to issue fines or make arrests if the individual does not heed the warning.

This update to the City Charter on Loitering will improve public safety and reduce disturbances to residents and businesses.

It is imperative that we show our support for this ordinance. Please sign the online petition. We will download a report of all signatories and present it to Councilman Johnson prior to this ordinance being brought to committee in May.

We are grateful that Councilman Johnson has the courage to stand up for all residents of Wilmington.
